The original selling dealer had replaced parts twice and supposedly the entire dash AC hot/cold controller unit, but when the engine temp reached 125 the air became hot and hotter.

Our new dealer Robert Crist & Company also replaced the entire dash AC controller unit and thought that solved the problem of hot air. But it did not, again when the temp reached 125 the air became hot.

Today, the technician really stopped to think about the issue and looked at another MH, comparing it with ours. He realized something so obvious that no one else had noticed. The AC controller was attached to the wrong hose. He switched it to the hose that takes water to the recyling box and now we have cold air even when the engine was 140 degrees. (He took it from a red hose and moved it to a black hose.)

The problem came from the factory that way and no one questioned it. In my job, troubleshooting means you have to start at the beginning and ask some real basic questions in order to progress to a solution. I'm glad that George, our technician at Robert Crist, was able to think outside the edges and see the obvious. Thank goodness!!

I've searched all the forums and read the posts on dash AC, but didn't find an answer so here I go. (I'm posting without the input of Rick, so bear w/ me please.)

This was an admitted problem from the selling dealer (who we fired) and continues today. The heater hose was clamped off by the dealer with a barlock and the dash AC blew cold air. Very nice. They removed the clamps and replaced the temp valve controller and thought they fixed the problem until I drove away and the engine temperature reached 125. Then it blew hot and progressively got hotter as the engine temp increased.

Our second, new-favorite, dealer wasn't sure they had the techs to fix it, but they talked with Monaco and replaced the entire unit. They also thought it was resolved until I drove away and the engine temp reached 125 and started blowing hot again. An interesting thing and a possible hint to the problem is when I stopped and let the engine idle before shutting it off, the air started getting cold again!

We've seen a shut off valve installed on SOB MH's but don't know if any other Monaco owners have resorted to this. The dealer wants to try again (when they try again to fix the impossible speaker noise), but we are not sure we want to leave it again if there is no end in sight. We believe the dealer will do their best and work with Monaco to try to resolve it, BUT. We will be at the FMCA rallies in January and February and the Monaco rally in February and I'm thinking of "saving" it for the Monaco technicians, either at the rallies or in Oregon a couple months later.

Any thoughts on what's wrong?
Any further tests we can run to try to help find a resolution?
Any thoughts about taking it to the techs at a rallies? (the dash AC and the speaker noise problems)

Thanks in advance! Much appreciated. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I had that problem with a SOB, turned out that the temp control valve was piped backwards. When the piping was reversed that problem was solved, then I only had to deal with the slide cable.

GoneFishin sure starts some interesting threads...thanks.

Our 05 Dip has intemitent problems with the Dash AC controller. Some times...not every time...the air flow blows through the defroster vents regardless of which icon the twisty knob is pointed towards. Not a big problem unless it's a hot day and you need cooling from the dash vents. Some days everthing works perfectly and most days we don't need to operate this system at all so I've got this on my lower priority 'get-er-done' at the next Monaco rally list.
Any ideas...?

I guess I should take that as a compliment? I post what comes to mind, knowing we can't possibly be the only ones thinking it or experiencing it.

I don't know if the dash ducting would be similar, but our coach furnace ducting was not finished off properly. We found that we were heating the areas behind the galley drawers because the ducting wasn't connected to the vent. But if your dash sometimes works and other times doesn't, is there some type of temp controller that would route it differently?

We would love to see what's under our dash.

I'm thrilled to report that our dash heater also works since it was 50 chilly degrees this morning when we took the MH to have the tow bar installed. Burrrr...

Yipeee, we have dash air conditioning AND dash heat.
