Dash AC need help

Dash AC on a 2000 Monaco Diplomat cools good for about 1 hour than the volume of air decreases to hardly anything, could it be freezing up due to dirty coils? If so, can I get to the coils from the front of the RV or do I have to tear the dash out to get to it?

I doubt it would freeze up in an hour. May have a problem with fan relay.

Maybe low coolant causing the coils to frost up

Probably frosting up. My Blazer does this from time to time. When it does this, run the dash air fan on a high setting and shut off the ac compressor; like run the system in vent or even defrost. Leave the temp selector in cold, just no compressor. The moving air of the fan will defrost the evap in about 2-3 minutes. You'll hear and feel the air flow improve, and the air will still be cooled by the frost and the evaporation. Once the airflow is back to normal, go back in AC and run the compressor till it frosts up again.

Also, run your rv dash air in recirc, not fresh. No sense trying to cool that hot and humid outside air when you got cool and dryer air inside.

I believe the previous post have your answer, I will also add that you might check to see that the condensation drain hole is not plugged.

Hamfly, I have a 2000 HR Endeavor and it has a device called a “Cold Control” on the firewall that looks like a relay but in addition to two wires, has a tiny tube that goes into the evaporator and switches the compressor off if the evaporator freezes. You might take a look at that. Theoretically, evaporator should not freeze but if it does, this gives it a chance to thaw.
