We just had our AC system repaired to the tune of a new compressor with Workhorse picking up the cost of the parts. (Our piece was still 650!)

Anyway, I was very disappointed at how "non-cool" the cool air was. Is there a specification that states what the air temp at the register versis the coach ambient should be?

Funny because my workhorse when I had it, the air was barely cool once it hit above 80 degrees out...One of the reasons I moved to a DP.

The condenser is literally squeezed ahead of the radiator and trans cooler..so the fan can not move enough air to blow the heat away in a tight compartment..There used to be an aux condenser kit (try a search on it) that some people were putting in to help..also hopefully there is enough room for the engine to breathe--otherwise the heat builds up...also always run your system on max ac so it recirculates already cooled air. I am assuming you checked the heater control valve. I know your frustration because driving back and forth to Mickey's world in Florida, we had to blast the roof airs to keep cool. An unforgettable trip in a gasser, which while we enjoyed it...that doghouse got HOT.

The UFO is a completely different animal. It is a gas pusher. The AC system is mounted on the rear left hand side of the unit in the same panel as the hydraulic pump.

Thanks for the info.

I didn't realize you had the UFO...my mistake...because the UFO chassis wasn't in your signature...I thought Gramps had the UFO chassis all to himself....You could call Evans-Tempcon and see if they can be of any help to you..that's the rest of the AC unit that HR uses. They have a website as well listing their service centers...might be worth to check them out.

Coachmanrvr, read through this post and see if some of the problems wthomas1 had with his air conditioner vacuume pump reservior may relate to your problem.

My AC isn't cooling and neither does another UFO 38plt that belongs to my close friend. I had mine looked at by an RV mechanic. He thinks it may just be low freon. I hope he is correct. The UFO AC used to freeze me, but looking back it may have not been much over 80 degrees most of the time we used it.

I don't know about the vac leak other than the noise what were the symptoms?

Gramps, I got told my freon was low too...twice. Then a bad compressor. Still not cold. I think I'm done. Just going to run the Genset and the roof air.

I have top off the AC sys in our two diesel coaches and the cars for the family, Grandkids and have had good luck using 36# to 38# on the low side using (the big hose) 134A on a 90 deg + day (run your engine above idle ), I do have gauges but you can get the little cheap gauge with the 134A system at your local auto parts store that will work ok.

I run the gen and the roof air, but it doesn't help enough, especially when the sun is coming thru that big windshield. The sofa stays nice and cold, but the drivers seat not so much.

Hi Walt, Can you tell me roughly how from just inside the door it will be to where I will find the Air Blower? I have come to the conclusion that I need to get to that motor! I have tried every test except a tickle, and thats what it looks like! I have may just punch a hole and then cover it with some Oak! There is no glove box, but i assume its behind where one would be? Thanks Walt! Allegro5

Sure Bill I can give you the procedure that I used to change my blower motor but that is not going to help you until you figure out how to get 12 volts to the motor, I think you have a problem in the front fuse bay.
