Hi I have a 2009 Monaco Cayman. recently while going down the road i drove over a bridge that was a little rough and the dash lights flashed very quickly then the stop engine light came on pulled over and stopped engine then re-started coach and the light was off. Later on in a construction are coach rolled side to side and the dash did the same thing with the same results. Just wondering if this happened to anyone else

I would take it to Cummins and have them read the codes to see what caused the problem. If no code was set, then you may have a bad ground, and that could be anyplace, but look first at the dash area and batteries. If you have VMSpc, you can read the codes yourself.

Hey Digger, when you say the dash lights flashed are you talking about the lights that light up the gauges or other warning lights?

When I had a problem with my ABS warning light flashing on and off I sat my grandson in the drivers seat watching the dash while I started to jiggle and shake cables and connectors until it flashed. I found the loose plug in the Forward Run Box. If you have a FRB it may be there or it may be behind the dash. Hopefully you have an inspection panel on top of the dash.

What is interesting is that the Stop Eng light circuit comes from the motor ECU which is separate from the dash light circuit except maybe a common ground. If the dash lights are losing a ground due to a loose terminal then the current flow is probably going back through the Stop Eng light and turning it on. We call this backwards flow a "Sneaker Circuit" because it sneaks around backwards. All my dash gauges and lights have a common ground point that is behind my dash that can me accessed through a top panel. Like I said you will just have to go around shaking wire bundles until you can see the problem again.

I had exactly the same problem with my 2008 Cayman. It turned out to be a loose ECM connection at the chassis battery. The ECM is wired directly to the chassis battery - several red (+) and white (-) wires. The nut on the -ve side was cross threaded and even though it was appeared to be tight when using a wrench, the white wire was still loose. Had to add a couple of washers to the battery lug so it could be tighten and since then no further issues.

Glad it worked daisylou. Hard to believe such a simple thing can stop the whole coach. I will check them often

We both have the same problem.. A loose connection.

Mine just re-boots the dash radio though (not serious)

I would start by checking the bolts where the ground wires hook to metal things... Many RVers (and this includes me) often have a few.. er... screws loose... The metal kind, in this context.. ones you tighten with a wrench or screwdriver.

I won't discuss the other kind
