I have recently installed a pioneer avh-4300dvd in the dash. Hooked it to the TV and life is good. I have a six speaker system...two in the bedroom ceiling and four in the front ceiling. The only problem I have is Monaco in there infinate wisdom put the four speakers in the front on the front channel of the stereo and the two bedroom speakers on the back channel. I have the speakers out of the ceiling and hanging down but cant reach the wires that go to the rear of the coach for the back speakers to rewire. Any ideas on how to reach them in the ceiling? They are running on the passenger side in the space between the ceiling and the roof about 18" in from the pass side speaker. my arm is too big to fit through the speaker hole. Do I have to take the ceiling down for this little task?

If you have a area near your over head fans you may have a wood panel with access to fans that will reveal this mess of wires:

All my speaker wires front running lights and numerous other wires were spliced in that hole.
Was able to switch bedroom and kitchen wiring off fad control of radio.

007 I wish mine was that easy. My wires go from the radio to the drivers side and up the post to the ceiling. From there across to the passenger side and run along the passenger side of the coach and cut across to each speaker. Problem is all four fronts are split in the ceiling where i cant reach. NO access. I could splice wires with no problem if I could reach them. Is it possible to undoo the ceiling?

Gutter Man....Out of curiosity, why do you want to change how the speakers work. My Monaco is set up the same. The rear balance is so that you can turn the radio off in the bedroom so someone can sleep. My other four up front are on the same channel. It's never been an issue since the size of the room really doesn't make for an area that needs to have the volume balanced. I guess if you want to shut down the mid speakers it would be important.

Side note....I have an older Pioneer Avic D-1 AM/FM/XM/CD/DVD/GPS radio in the dash. They had an optional steering wheel controller that REALLY comes in handy.

I guess my thinking is all four channels should be in the front of the coach where we do most of our listening. Also the dvd player is now playing throught the speakers so I would think the rear channel would add more stereo effect to the listening experience. I am thinking of running new wires to the rear living room/kitchen speakers and putting a switch to run the bedroom speakers on and off as we please. At the moment when I switch my radio on in the bedroom the entire coach get the music, not just the rear.

You've got a stereo head unit so you have left and right channels; the three speakers on the left all carry the same signal and ditto for the 3 right speakers. The split in your wiring is for fader (balance between front and rear) control; that is, you can use the fader control on the head unit to kill the sound in the rear (or alternately in the front) of the coach when necessary.

Unless you specifically want to be able to balance the front and mid coach speakers in a front to rear fashion (and then the "sweet spot" in the middle will only be in one very small area) rewiring isn't going to gain you much (especially given the work involved).

So...for your example of wanting to have music only in the bedroom; you need to access the controls on your Pioneer and change the front to rear balance (the fade) to all in the rear. Then when you turn on the unit you should only get sound out of your bedroom speakers. Since your unit is stereo you'll have left and right channels in the bedroom and it will sound good.

Hope this makes sense, lots of speakers and locations to refer to!

Les
