Maybe I am the only one that didn't know that to turn on the daytime running lights, all you have to do is have the engine running and turn the windshield wipers on then off and the lights will come on and stay on until you turn the engine off. Never saw this in the owners manual.

Hi Chuck,

Ummm... I don't mean to be a smart aleck here, but why not just pull out on the light switch?

Neat idea that the lights come on with the windshild wipers. Makes sense. I didn't know that either.

With the daytime lights on, you don't have the position lights, tail lights and Toad lights on and they go off when you turn the engine off. Seems easier to me.

OK, thanks. Now you've peaked my curiosity to go see if my coach works that way.

While normally, the DRL work when the brake is off and engine running, turning on the wipers may be in response to the number of states that now require headlights when wipers are required. This certainly would make sense.

When caravaning with other Monacos quite a few didn't know that this feature existed. I discovered it by accident also but it works. Just click the intermittent wiper for one stroke and the DRL will stay on till you turn the engine off, I like it. Remember when you only turned on the lights during the daytime during holiday weekends?

Our Time......I think what you are referring to has more to do with some state laws. In California, your headlights must be on when the wipers are on. When you turn on your wipers the headlights will stay on until you shut the coach off or pull the light switch on and then push off and they'll go off.

I don't believe these are dedicated DRL's, but state law related.

Here's another one for you that I found a lot of people don't know: How To Set Intermitent Wiper Speed.

To set the intermitemt speed you push the intermitent button on the Smart Wheel and the wiper will wipe once. Once the water starts to build up on the windshield to where you feel you need another wipe, hit the button again. The duration is now set. So if you waited 15 seconds before pushing the button a second time, the wait between wipes will be 15 seconds...etc, etc.

I don't know about you guys, but if I have a dry windshield I am not going to turn on my wiper and run the chance of scratching the windshield. I would rather turn on the headlights.

Chirohand, you have a point! Further, I'm not sure I could even remember to do that when the headlight switch is right there. Somehow, it just doesn't seem "intuitive". However, I DO appreciate the fact that the running lights come on when I turn the wipers on. Didn't know that before.

Our old motorhome (2007 La Palma) had daytime running lights that came on when you started the engine. And they weren't the full-strength headlights. At least that's how I remember it. When we start up the Cayman in a few days, we'll check to see if the DRLs come on.

Since we're talking about lights and it's easier to ask than pull out the owner's manual, who knows how the ICC switch works? It's on my left near the MIRROR HEAT switch. I think I know what it is, but when and how does it work? This is another one that we need to test - and make notes.

I figure if I have the question, someone else does also, they just don't realize they have the question. Make sense?
