Did you use Locktite on your new Source Fan?

I have read all the comments about how difficult it is to remove the stock OEM fan and that it may have been installed with some kind of thread lock material. That got me to worrying about installing a new Source fan and would the darn thing come off and destroy my radiator, alternator, etc. Just wondering if those who have installed a Source fan used Locktite on the bolts when you did the install? I can't see how it would hurt.

I did. I noticed a brown residue in the threads when I removed the bolts. I assumed it was a thread locking material of some sort. So I used Locktite after I used a wire wheel on the threads.

Good idea, but use the blue, not the red one

I agree with Cayman. If memory serves me correctly you have to heat Locktite Red to something like 500 degrees to be able to remove the bolt/nut.

I was told by Scott at Source to use the BLUE lock-tite. There is lots of reasons why you don't want that fan to whirl off.
