Diplomat side marker lights

My 2001 diplomat has one side marker on each side. They light up when the headlight are on at night and each side blinks with the directional signals are used.
My question is, should they work during the day. Neither side works when I use the blinkers or emergency flashers. Should they?

My side-markers do blink, day or night (headlights ON or OFF). The side markers are on the same "blinking circuit" as the front blinking light (my front blinkers are located on the underside of the arm of my rear-view mirrors).

FWIW:
I've learned that the "blinking circuit" for side- and mirror- mounted blinkers is actually a different circuit/fuse than is the blinking signal at the rear of the RV (and is also passed to the toad). Although a separate circuit/fuse, they blink ON and OFF at the same instant.
