Direct TV DVR
I have 2008 Dynasty, I replaced The Old Direct Tv Receiver with a DVR recorder. When I watch some of My recordings it will lock-up & I need to Pull the Cord from Socket in order to Get TV started again, Then I need to DELETE the recording as It will not Play The recording, I Assume its because it gets near 100 degrees in the box where receiver sets.
Has anyone had this problem?.

DCTENT......Is it a new box and could it be bad? My DirecTV box is in a cabinet above the windshield where it would get hot even when the box wasn't on. This may be difficult for you to do and the Dynasty may not need it, but I added insulation to the front cap. The roofs are really insulated well, but the transition from the roof to the front cap had nothing. The curve in the cap was right over that cabinet. When I had my TV out for replacement, I stuffed a bunch of fiberglass insulation, double thick, along the entire width of the front cap and a little around the turns. It reduced the heat substantially. My cabinet had cooling holes in it and I though about palcing a smaller computer fan in the cabinet to help even more.
Finally, I don't run my DirecTV box with the door closed. On mine it's a small door and if we have hookups I just leave the box on and the door open. After 4 years I still have the same box with no issues.
Hope this helps.

Yes 100+ is a problem, that box is a computer it has a cooling fan, it has a HARD DRIVE, same as whatever you are typing on now.
You need to make every effort to cool it down.. Suggestions are
1: Drill holes, I drilled 3 or 4 4" holes in the back of the compartment and one in the side, this allows a lot more air in, I also installed a 4" muffin fan on a 90 degree T-Switch (Temp) over the first (Side) hole
I also replaced the plexiglass door "Center" with a standard window screen, also charcoal, made by my hardware store.
Result, much cooler in the DVR compartment. Much happier DVR,
IN my case the DVR is a Replay 5000 series
The bedroom TV has a Replay 5500 series behind it
They chat
So I can watch two shows WHILE recording two other shows if watching cable. Or watch and record any combination of 2 shows (Record while watching is one show) via the DTV convertes or.. once I re-activate, DirecTV
And I don't pay any monthly DVR fee either
(You can't watch 2 shows at once with your DVR)

Nice job Corkey! Did you do that work yourself? I am interested and have almost the same coach. How did you match the stain color? What wood did you use, etc.? Inquiring minds want to know.

I agree that heat is a killer. You need to get the heat under control by a fan or additional venting, preferably both. Unfortunately you have probably already damaged your DVR and will need to replace it. Hopefully you have paid for the additional warranty.

Bob, the woodworking honers go to Infinity Custom Coach of Sumner, WA. It's actually a cabinet with a decorative black screen on the back so it looks factory from outside the coach looking in. It was easier to build the shelf than work with fans, temp sensors, experiment with holes and such. I have never had a heating problem since moving the DVR and sat controller to the shelf.

I will certainly accept emails with a phone number from Monaco Members and personally call you to walk each of you through the 2 ways to add photos to your posts. (Verizon wireless numbers are perfect if you have one!)

We have a 07 Diplomat . Our receiver is in the front overhead cabinet. Fans were installed by Monaco inside of cabinet before bankr. Also we placed inner panel of door with decorative screen material. Fans have an off and on switch, and definitelly much cooler operating and also just general heat when receiver is off.
