Direct TV HD Recorder

I had problem with My Recorder Starting By itself on an Old Recorder, Direct TV sent Me a New HD Recorder (NOT DUE TO THAT ISSUE), But for other issues with the recorder, Now the New one also starts by itself, I dont' have any recordings set up to record, So I don't Know why it comes on. Any Ideas?.

Mine will do this when I turn the inverter off and then back on again. Could this be what's causing your unit to come on?

I can't remember if Directv has the "suggested" recording option but I have that with my Tivo's. I can go into the recording menu and turn that off. If you don't turn it off with Tivo, it will just keep recording stuff it thinks you might want watch.

To Ken, No It does it constantly with Inverter Off or On When Plugged Into SP.

To Mike, I Do Not have it set up to record anything at this time. Although I Have recorded programs in the past, I SURE Wish It Was TIVO, AS I Have Both In My Residence, I Think Tivo Is The Best, Although It Is a Feature From Direct Tv.

What shows is it recording? The same over and over or different shows? You don't have to program anything and it will still record some programs unless you actually go into the setup screen and tell it NOT to do this.

Did you check under Menu > Manage Recordings > and see if there is anything listed under the To Do List or the Series Manager?

DCTENT...It may not be a new recorder. DirecTV was notorious for sending out returned/rebuilt units. It could be that the previous owner's recordings were not deleted. I had this issue a few years ago.

Mine turns on during channel guide updates. I found this out from another BB when a DirecTV tech answered a similar question. It will also turn on for operating system updates. The converter box is never actually off, but in standby ready to respond to updates.

I only have the word of the responder to the other BB, but it sure fits what happens to all three of my DVR's, as I often find they have turned themselves on without my help.

Now if they would just learn to turn themselves off so my batteries could breath easier during dry camping.
