My 94 Signature has a lot of dirt that comes in past the engine cover. Of course it seems to be somewhat oily and can stain the bedding and mattress.

What is the best way to clean it off?

What is the best way to seal it?

Paul

I would lift the cover if posible & look at the seal. Being a 94 the rubber seal is probably not very elastic anymore. If the rubber looks flat & molded into a squished position, I would try to find new rubber to replace it with.

As for the cleaning...........there are several medium to heavy duty cleaners on the market. Not sure which ones to try. Trail & error I would assume. Try cleaning a small inconspicous erea first incase it discolors the flooring & surrounding ereas.

www.steelerubber.com - Automotive rubber parts and weatherstripping for restoration cars, trucks and street rods. Check these guys for peel and stick rubber moldings. I have used them in auto restorations. QUALITY rubber stuff. You should not have leakage if sealed properly. Clean the stick down area with acetone before applying the seal...problems will be solved.

The seal is squashed. I would be too after 17 years under that engine cover!

I see some like it at McMaster Carr. Edge-Grip Rubber Seal Bulb Next to Grabber, 1/8" Edge, 3/4" Bulb Width

Part number 1120A57. http://www.mcmaster.com/#bulb-seals

25 ft will do it! Today is Sunday afternoon. I bet they have it here on Tuesday!
