The manual suggests 1 gallon of bleach for every 15 gallons of water. That's 5 gallons of bleach for 75 gallons of water, and I ran out of fingers and toes for 100 gallons.
Has anyone been brave enough to use that much bleach? I am a little worried about rubber seals, etc.

Bud dont do that, I use 1 oz of bleach per 7.5 gal to clean tank and let it set overnight and
1/6 oz per 10 gal to treat drinking water. I will also past a link to some old tec tips that one of the guys on MCOA posted, check out #156.

Bud,
Definitely do not do that. The website listed above has the correct amounts at 1/4 cup per 15 gallons. I have always done mine with 1.5 cups per 100 gallons which is just a little bit less than the above mixture..

1 gallon of bleach for every 15 gallons of water is a major misprint. It should have said something like "a solution of 1 gallon water and 1/4 cup of bleach."

My manual says:
Prepare a solution of 1 gal of water and 1/4 cup of bleach {1/4 cup = 2 oz}
Use 1 gal of solution for every 15 gals of tank capacity {my capacity is 95 gals}
E.g. Add 2-2/3 gallons solution to a 40 gallon tank. {I would add 6 1/3 gallons of solution. Totally that is only a shade over 12 oz, or 1 1/2 cups.}

In fact I use less than what is mentioned in the manual.
