I spent the winter in Juno Beach on the east coast, but we have several members who winter in Pelican Lake and River Bend in the area you mention.

I understand both are first class parks.

Be advised that all these great locations are pricey.

We spent two months this winter at Upriver Campground in North Ft Myers. A little pricey but a great campground to spend a winter. They have a heated pool, daily activities, etc. Located only one mile off the interstate.(www.upriver.com)

Riverside RV Resort (riversidervresort.com)

This is a very good park with OUTSTANDING management and staff. Activities for everyone. Difficult to get a site in this park during February. Great park for dogs.

It appears prices are rising in Ft. Myers Beach area. My cousin stays there every year, next year the monthly fee increases from $675 to $850, with a 3 month minimum stay.

Siesta Bay, Indian River, and Gulf Waters are all nice parks. We have stayed at Siesta Bay several times but I don't think they take pets.

DCTENT,
It is not too early to plan for the 2008/2009 Florida Winter season. You may be starting a bit late.

There are many places to stay. Because it is your first winter in Florida, consider staying in 2 or 3 places. This might provide insite to where you'd like to "roost" in future years.

January, February, and March are pretty crowded and pretty expensive in South Florida. But, it is an awesome place to be

We stayed at Bonita Lake RV Park in Bonita Springs, just south of Ft Meyers. Nice place, and away from the Ft Meyers Beach craziness. Some friends stayed at Fort Myers Beach RV Resort, and it was a beautiful park. The price change in January was extreme, however.

Plan early, and make reservations as soon as possible. Come the first of the year, it is hard for us non-planners to find spots for any amount of time in So Florida.

we are Newbies as of last Sept. We started looking first week of Oct. and felt fortunate to find a campround that still had an opening. We wanted to stay near Ft Myers, Punta Gorda area. We stayed at Pine Island Resort (a barrier island) Jan., Feb. and March. The campground is listed as KOA and is owned by Encore.

We will be staying at Riverside near Arcadia for 3 mos. (maybe Dec.) next year. We visited every campground in the Ft Myers, Punta Gorda area.

If anyone is interested Ft myers has an excellent Heart Center.

It is not, not, not too early to get reservations for next winter.
Good luck and happy hunting. (smile)

Hi All,
Last year was also my first winter in Fl, and I had a nice 2 1/2 months in the Ocala / Silver Springs Area! I plan on going back to that area mid Jan thru mid April. However I would like to spend Dec thru mid Jan farther south where it is warmer. I also started planning to late last year, mid Oct. and could not get into Riverside RV Resort whiich I heard was a nice place!

Hey digNbubbs am I missing something I see Bonita Lake which is about an hour farther south then Riverside RV Resort is $698 a month and Riverside is $865 a month ?????

Looking forward to hear from others on places to stay !
