Dometic 1402 Freezer temp only 28 degrees
We have been full time for a year now with no problems of any kind so I guess its time.
The fridge side is fine at 33,but the freezer will only pull down to 28 was doing 1 to 3 before now, changed overnight.
Checked fans they are fine and run when door switch is pushed.
Went into service mode all is well except mode 04 reads Lo 33.
Evaporator coils are frosted and cold, ever seem frozen solid, but they have been this way all year.
I have some experience with RV fridges but need a little help before I throw parts at this one.
Thanks to all,it has been a smooth year in part to this forum and web site!!!

My first thoughts would be to thaw the frost and see if that changes anything.

Good for you! Our 1200 chose to end it's life on Monday. New cooling unit should be in today. Install on Monday. So glad that was all that was wrong with yours. Until you've smelled it, you can't imagine the incredibly overwhelming repulsive odor that emanates from a failed cooling unit! And its such a slow leak that it is still leaking after 96 hours!!!!! Every few hours run the big ceiling fan and open the fridge doors to purge it, a bit, then close it back up. Sometimes you don't realize what you have until you don't have it, any more.

Yeah Jim, you got right about what I consider average lifespan of today's cooling units !
Question; do you usually leave it running, or shut it down when not using your coach?

We log the enjoyment of our '06 Dynasty, and we've "lived" in it approximately 42% of the time. We do not have power where we store it, so it is left off during those storage periods. So the total run time is probably on the order of slightly over 5 years.
Virtually the entire period consisted of 3 ½ to 5 months in each winter, and perhaps a half dozen uses during the spring, summer, fall period, each year. Most of those non-winter outings were on the order of 3 to 5 days, and there were a handful of trips lasting two weeks, or more. Also, I would guess that the refrigerator was only operated on propane perhaps an average between 100 and 150 hours per year. The reset of teh time it was powered by AC.
It would be nice to be able to identify what, if anything, the owner can do to extend the life of these units provided they are used within the guidelines of the owners manual.

I 'THINK' the only thing the owner can do, is not run it un-level.
Some believe they last longer if they run 24/7/365. When I asked the owner of the shop that replaced mine, in a previous M.H, he didn't think it mattered.

Full Time running
This is my 4th RV,have had 2 cooling unit failures on our part time units, always turned off when not in use. My dad has owned several RV's for over the last 30 years and never had a failure. He left his on full time , based on that I would think leaving them on must be better.
We are full time now and never turn it off ,only on gas when we move.
