I just took out our dometic NDA 1402 side by side fridge that came with our 07 Camelot and replaced it with a residential fridge. I would love to sell the old fridge. I had to remove the flange that holds the doors on to get it out of the coach. I think that flange can be purchased but not sure. The fridge worked good.We never had a problem with it just all this talk of problems concerned me so I made the switch. Is it worth anything? Maybe parts for someone or if the flange can be purchased it could be installed and be used. Thoughts?

zman62,
I have the same refrig. and considering doing the same swap. What brand and model is your new refrig? How did you get it in the coach? Any pictures?

What flange did you screw up? -- I replaced my 1402, & had to remove the doors to get it thru the side window, but reinstalled the doors easily, & with no damage -- Some of the screws was kinda hard to find for the hinges & such, & had some wires & a water line to disconnect --I installed a RF197 Samsung -- Took the passenger side, slide-out window out -- Works god on the modified sine wave inverter, with 4 batteries -- Bill Willard

Quite a bit, actually.... Up to you to determine how much discount you apply for the damage: dometic NDA 1402 - Google Search

I also installed the RF 197. I guess I did not think about going through the side window. I went through the front door. I removed the fridge doors but there is a black flange that goes all the way around the front of fridge that the doors attach to. That flange is siliconed on so getting it off ruined it. We tried many different ways to get it out the front door but that flange made it too deep. Once I removed it went right out. I should have done the side window and my old fridge would be intact. oh well....

Bill how are you locking the new fridge doors? I am still trying to figure out something that is noninvasive. Also did you put a stop in to prevent the left hand door from hitting the mirror? Did you close off your vents in the back? I have noticed that all the new coaches with residential fridges have no vents. I am thinking of closing mine off figuring the ventilation should be the same as if it were installed in my house. Thanks....

There are places that may buy your old fridge for a core on the cooling unit. Zman62 pending on the fridge they make a lock kit for the doors. Monaco had a set for the french door with freezer on bottom. i do believe I found similar at Home depot. And yes depending how deep your cabinet is to the size of the fridge most of the vents can be closed off and there is a solid one that goes right in place but it might need painted or stickers to match.

Thanks for the info.. I have looked at lowes and Home Depot and nothing. I will call Monaco and see if they have anything. There is a Tiffin dealer near me. They install the same barn door type fridge (side by side with bottom freezer). I plan on stopping by to see how they lock theirs. I posted the fridge on craigs list and seem to be getting some action on it. We will see....

Thanks everyone!!!

We installed a Samsung RF197 in our coach too.......removing a 1201 Norcold. The reefer is not in a slide so it has the bottom intake and the roof exhaust. I blocked the bottom intake with sticky-back HVAC foil tape and left the roof vent open. For "locking it in place I fabbed some steel "brackets that lock into the side walls and bolt onto the bottom front of the reefer hwere the adjustable "feet" mount. The top is locked in by using the 2 square indentions in the hard plastic piece on the top front. The reefer won't move under any condition except a potential accident......then I'm going to have to hope for the best. Actually I think the Samsung is fastened better than the Norcold was. As far as securing the doors & drawer here's what I did.....for the freezer drawer I used sticky-back velcro stuck to the drawer top on each side where the drawer meets the door hinge(s). I used the other side of the Velcro strip fastened under the door hinges. I close the top piece in the freezer drawer when parked. For the doors we're going to continue using a strap that's similar to a bungee cord. If anyone has a better idea on the top doors I would like to hear it.

I would have done that too but with the reefer in place I had no access to the back or sides........just the front

That is one thing that the open vent in the back is good for. I closed the vent off from the outside so I could access the back of the fridge. I always worry that things are not secure enough. I have a total of 6 brackets holding it in. I would think it should be staying put.

My vent access "door" must be higher and smaller than yours. There is just no room to fasten an L bracket in the access "door" on the back side of my installation. there is absolutely no play in the fasteners so I expect it to stay in place.

Please let me know what you find to fasten the hinged doors for travel. Thanks
