The drop-off relay in HVAC lingo is called a start relay. It is attached usually on top of the start capacitor.

Also check the MFD and voltage rating on the old PTCR to make sure you have the correct replacement.

Not saying this is the part for yours but I bought this one for my AC and it works great.

That’s the same as mine, except mine did not have that little black hardstart pcs on top, maybe that’s why it blow?

If the top of the new start cap you changed didn't have that extra little part on it as in this picture.and your old one did...you likely fried the start winding. That little black piece on top of the capacitor acts as a relay without it that capacitor stays in the circuit indefinitely until something blows

Hey Tony do you think it's possible they ran common into the thermal overload first then back out to the run cap?
That would explain the click and everything shutting down if they used the thermal device to kill common to fan and herm
I'm not a big 110v guy on AC but like you I've got years and years in the industry

I think I’ve got the capacitors and all replaced and wired correctly but haven’t tried it yet !! Waiting for my wife to get home.
If I do have all wired correctly and the compressor is fried what will or it will it not do?

I don't think so. It probably has an internal overload, which has no external wires.

If the compressor is fried, it won't run.
