I finally pulled the coach out of summer storage....spent the summer at our Shaver Lake house. The coach fired right up and everything worked great on the trip back to Long Beach where we spend the winter. I leveled put out the slides and awnings and lo and behold the door awning refused to work. Is there a fuse somewhere that I need to check.....I know I should look in the manual....but....you folks are always soooooo helpful
Thank you in advance....Steve

Steve,
Same thing happend to me with our '06 Endeavor. Turned out to be a bad motor and was replaced under warranty (Carefree). They had a bad batch of motors that were not sealed and rusted the motor shaft and froze up. Still would try the fuse but I can't recall where it is.

I have 2006 Diplomat and I also had the same problem. I took the motor out of the casing and took the motor apart. Clean the rust out with sandpaper, lube the motor shaft and put everthing back together and it works like new. This will save you a couple of hundred dollar for a new motor.

Steve...
The door awning runs off of 12V.
It looks like you may want to check #59 (I think it is a 15 fuse) in the outside front fuse panel...up near the driver side corner.
I will be curious to know if I have learned how to read this booklet correctly - and I certainly hope that is your problem.
Good Luck!

MM
PS...Weren't you guys coming up here this fall?

You must have the ignition off for the door awning to work. I assume you did. When we purchased our coach used from Lazydays they insisted on replacing the door awning motor so guess they knew about the bad batch of motors.

I also had a motor replacement on my 06 Diplomat.
The original did not last long, It went bad during my trip back from Monaco's factory, where a I had picked up my brand new coach.
Since then no problems.

Thanks for all of your replies....I will check the #59 fuse first and hope that is the problem. If not I'll place a call to Carefree regarding a motor replacement...wonder if it is still under warranty?

Just an update. The fuse turned out to be ok and the problem appears to be a bad motor and Carefree stepped up to the plate and is sending a replacement under warranty.
Has anyone else had a problem with the light switch for the overhead light in the galley? Mine has been acting up and I pulled it out and discovered it had burn marks at the connection. It looks like it got hot enough to catch on fire. I'm going to change out the switch.

Happy to hear Carefree stepped up and will be replacing the motor. They did the same for me, good folks. I changed my motor out myself and it is a little bit of a pain. If you have access to a Carefree service center you will spare yourself some grief. Make sure they send you the new plastic shrouds that fit the new motor. I believe you can get them in white or black. I had my white shrouds painted to match the coach. You will probably need to adjust the awning travel as well. After I installed the motor it would hang when trying to retract. Pretty easy to adjust though. I can't remember if awning adjustment came with the new motor but the Carefree site has adjustment procedures.
BTW, have not had any problem with the galley light. The bulbs in the smaller center lights don't last very long though. I always keep a couple of spares and change one out every couple of months or so.
good luck,
mark

Mark...Thanks for the heads up on installing the new motor. As usual I took the easy way and scheduled an appointment to have the work done at a local Holiday Rambler dealer.

Good call. In hind sight I should have done the same. Not a tough job but it takes more hands than I have to line things up.

Coming back from Ocean City to Annapolis this Sunday my Door Awning decided to depart the MH while I was crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
I have no idea why it left, it was retracted and had been working fine when I had last used it this Friday past. A hugely LOUD wham bang bop and then nothing more. I am hoping that it landed in the bay rather than under someone's wheels, but it's difficult to do too much looking in the rear view mirrors while you are tooling along in the RH lane on the Bay Bridge on a windy day. Particularly when you have no idea of what the heck just happened, are busy yelling to discover if everyone is OK, and trying to examine the outside of the RV in the wirrors while looking at the guages, the road and the traffic around you.
Anyway, a spot of good news in this, the awning managed to rip itself off leaving the two wires that power it dangling outside the coach. Even more incredibly, although it sounded like someone with a baseball bat beating a tatoo along outside of the coach I can't find a mark on the body or roof. Not even where the unit used to be mounted was marred.
Anyone out there ever have a similar experience?

Dave...Geez never would expect that to happen. Glad all is ok and no other damage. I guess my problem is minor compared to yours. Good luck getting the replacement.
Lucky thing you and I don't park next to one another....our coaches and tow vehicles are identical...could get confusing lol
