Draining fresh water tank
OK, whats the secret to draining the fresh water tank. Looked in the manual and it had pictures showing which valve was for what. Upon inspection of the area found all valves where marked and upon opening the fresh water drain valve. You guess it. Nothing came out. Checked all valves and still nothing. Finally with the water supplied turned off and the fresh water tank drain valve opened, I started the water pump and low and behold the water started coming out of the tank. When I shut the pump off, water stopped. I drain about 1/4 of the tank this way. There should be another method of draining the water. What is it?

Look for the valve that is located near the bottom of the water holding tank. Should be about a 1" or bigger PVC plastic valve with a red handle. deSanford

If you can see your tanks from the passenger side bay, go to the opposite side of the coach in the utilities bay. Look in the back corner for a smaller 1/2" to 5/8" pex line that makes a 90 degree turn through the floor. There will be a valve just before the 90. Try that and see if it drains. Yours may be in a different location.
Can't picture the pump running and water being pumped out the drain unless it was designed that way with a switch over valve. That doesn't make sense that they would do that. The main drain on the tank should be gravity fed only. I guess you could have a vacuum created in the tank if your gravity fill cap is clogged but doubt it. Keep looking and you should find it.
You can also, get down and look under the tanks for the pipe that is going through the bay floor and see if it is indeed the one draining from the pump running.

My 2011 Knight had a valve 1.5" above the tank. You can see the tank in back of the sewer system. After draining all I could, there is still that 1.5" of water there. I don't think it would be a problem even if it froze. Also there is a door that is screwed closed up on the opposite side. I added a lock and ground off the screw attachments so I could get access. In that compartment you had a few things that might interest you.

On my '97 HR it's on the side opposite the "pour it in" fill pipe. In my case, that's above the propane on driver side. A fitting in bottom/side with a shutoff and then an elbow with tubing on it that lets it drain down thru the compartment floor. In my case it's behind the water pump and a little difficult to see/reach.
