I replaced Michelin XZA-3s installed in 2009 with Toyos. The Michelins still looked good with very few minor cracks in a few places. They would have been 8 years old this winter.

Ok, just to play the Devils advocate I have run a set of Goodyear 399LHS 295 75R22.5 tires for 2 years and about 15K miles. No sign of uneven wear and the ride is smooth. Couldn't be happier.
Have also run Michelins with excellent results.

Stevie3508 I have the same Goodyears, 399LHS no issues like the 670s. Do you rotate them, if so what combination or direction. Currently 19k miles so far

Not a fan of rotating large truck tires if there is no sign of uneven wear. If there is uneven steer tire wear then the problem needs to be corrected before rotating the tires. Alignment, worn steering components or over/under tire inflation could be the cause.

Bottom line is "if it ain't broke don't fix it". If it is broke then find the root cause before going forward. 30+ years in fleet vehicle maintenance tought me that☺

Agree with you, I keep good tabs on inflation always. Saves gas too I average 8.7 per mile. Best 9.3

I am holding off as there is a new FMCA program with Continental that is going to be rolled out soon and I hope it offers better deals than Michelin. Nothing like a little competition to drive down pricing.

The FMCA discount plan for Continental is already in place. Go to their web site and you see the tire offerings.

Looking for some sort of clarification on Toyo/Michelin tires.

I have always used Michelin tires but at pretty much double the price of Toyo tires, I am researching Toyo. I have seen many posts indicating Toyo is a good tire and have not read anyone stating they would not use them again.

That said, the 295/80R22.5 tire has limited options and the Toyo 144 or Michelin Energy tires seem to be the most common. The Toyo is shown as a regional tire, Michelin long haul.
I do both regional and long haul so concerning a little about the regional notation on the Toyo.
I don't see many posts about the 144 tire specifically but do see a few and a lot of posts just saying Toyo not noting what size or model.
Anyone have info on the 144 vrs energy tire?
Thanks
Windecker
P.S. if this is a double post sorry. I posted this question earlier and can't find the post anywhere?

Yes, if you go look at the date of that post it was before they put it on the website. I was talking to the Continental people at the FMCA rally in Chandler a little over a week ago. It does look like they have better savings on the same size tires than Michelin.

ordered the continental coach HA3 315's yesterday, they said the FMCA event zeroed out inventory, will not get mine until April/May, but that's OK no travel plans of any distance till July.
At least the code dates should be good

I just installed six Toyo M144s on my coach. Walt also has them on his in the same size. They replaced Michelin's on my rig and I believe Walt also replaced Michelins. My Michelins were over 7 years old and had about 70K miles on them and the tread looked almost brand new.

From my research, there isn't any difference between a long haul and regional tire on a motor home because of the mileage we normally put on our vehicles. If we piled on the mileage like a trucker would, then you would probably get less wear out of a regional tire. The regional tire is supposed to have a little different carcass design that is less susceptible to curb damage and scrub wear. The long haul tire is optimized for highway mileage.

Here's another thread on the difference between long haul and regional tires:

Guess I had to be different. I installed Firestone. I am very happy with them. They are quiet and smooth.

It took several tries on Craigs list to get a buyer but they managed to get me some pocket change. They had tons of tread left and no cracking at all. Just some rivering of course.

You aren't the only one. My new to me Monaco has Bridgestones on them. They all have late 2010 date code. A desert MH & no weather checking on sidewalls or tread. I'll be replacing with Bridgestones who happen to make Firestones.
