I dump the air before leveling with Jacks when I am on an uneven parking spot. Gives you about 4 inches of additional travel to balance without pulling the steps up too high or jacking the rear too high.

Good luck.

ps - download the manual from the Monaco website and read the section on leveling. Monaco has a unique procedure.

Ron I'm not sure I am understand you, are you saying that long haul truck owners are saying that fanning your brakes will glaze brake shoes? If so I wish they would explain how that is possible.

I have a concrete pad. When we pull in from a trip, I let the Valid system auto-level from ride height and never lower the jacks or dump the bags. The system wakes up every few hours to check level, if needed the pump with come on to make the adjustment. I only use the jacks to raise the coach when working under it and placing the 22 ton jack stands I use. If the jacks were down for an extended period I'd need to make sure the pistons remained lubricated to prevent rust. The coach is rock solid on air. I ask Monaco why they put hydraulic jack leveling on coaches with air leveling, I was told some people like jacks. They also told me not to use the auto level on both systems at the same time. Each system has a slightly different idea about what level means so they may constantly be adjusting.

What about movement when just air leveling, imho seems like the rv would move around if not on jacks...

heck, with our 3 point jack system it still moves a bit

The only movement I've ever felt leveling with just the bags was when the washer went into the spin cycle. I've had 6-8 people walking around, kids playing, wind storms etc. and have never felt any movement. I level from ride height and don't dump the bags.
