Easy way to drain the ice maker?

Has anybody come up with a way to drain the water in the ice maker when returning from a trip? I tried a rubber hose on the end of a turkey baster but there is not enough suction to get the last bit of water. I have tried sponges and paper towels but can't get the last bit. Maybe a rubber hose hooked up to a shop vac?

The way I have seen people do is turn off water then let ice maker put out the ice till empty shut off then dry off the little that's left

you mean inside the freezer?
why?

If you are winterizing, then run it till it makes pink "ice"
If you're not, just throw away the first tray of ice the next time you go out.

I meant the ice cube maker.
I am thinking the easiest is to throw away the first batch of cubes on the next trip.
