I have a 2008 Safari Cheetah (SKQ floor plan) with an electric fireplace. When the unit quit working I removed it in order trouble shoot the problem. I found that the remote control unit that plugs into the electric outlet was heat damaged and partially melted. I re-installed the fireplace without the remote and left a message with the manufacturer (Dimplex). They have not yet return my call.

I'm very interested what they have to say...have you called Monaco Customer Service...I have this same setup and floor plan...and have had no trouble with the fireplace...and have used it to supplement the heat in the front of the coach...Very interesting to see if this is a problem requiring a recall.

I have used the fireplace extensively for supplemental heat for one year. I am just two weeks past my one year warranty so Monaco did not claim any responsibility. Dimplex did respond. They advised me not to use the fireplace on "high" for an extended period of time. The setting should be set so it would cycle on and off. They (Dimplex) are sending me a new remote control unit (2 year warranty).

I'm glad Dimplex stepped up...but Monaco had better learn that when people are on the cusp with warranty.....they better treat them right or the next coach won't be a Monaco...I never run mine on full blast as it would roast you but put it on as a mild supplement...the dogs love it...
