Electric Hotwater Heater

I have a 2006 HR 40 foot DP.
I am at a camping Club that has not upgraded to 50 amp. and we are doing the best we can on 30 amps.
Our problem is the hot water heater works on LP but we cannot get the electric heater to work.
I watch the EMS and it will show 10 amp draw when I flip the switch, but the water will not get hot.
Can the EMS shed the heater on 30 amp ?

Larry

I would say that it could if your total load is more than 30 amps. I guess it would all depend on what else you had on at the time and how your system is set up....Alan

If your amps increase by 10 amps and you are not over 27 Amps total when you turn on the hot water heater it sounds like heater element is all corroded with sediment.
To my knowledge it's the only way you can pull 10 amps and no hot water.

If you are on 30amp service why wouldn't you choose to use propane side of the wh?

A simple test would be to check the electric water heater fuse. Mine is in the rear closet on the drivers side. Look at your owners manual for the correct fuse location.

Our water heater is on the EMS panel so it will shed the load if required.
We can use all our electric systems on 30 amps although we have to be careful not to pop the breaker. The water heater works fine on 30 amps but ours uses about 19 amps when heating.
I will run the genny in the mornings when the hair dryer is required.
