I plugged my 2008 Cayman in this morning to charge the batteries. I do this evey month. The indicator panel on the wall shows a red light that says "fault". It is supplying 110 volts to everything but the convection oven & apparently isn't charging. Same thing happens if I start the generator. Both battery disconnects are on & the power switch inside coach is on. I have checked all breakers. Any ideas on my problem?

Check your inverter/charger, it has two red or black circuit switches. Usually, one side for the whole MH and the other for the Convection Oven. My guess is the Convection Oven side is also for the Charger function. There may also a reset for the Charger.

womps.....I agree with Jim Stewart, even though his avatars always frighten me. Check the circuit breakers on the inverter and then disconnect the phone line type connector on the front of the inverter. Wait about 30 - 40 seconds and then reconnect the phone line. This will usually reset the fault.

I'm with you on that Don. Jim's latest avatar makes me feel like I am in the gym of an assisted living center!

If your batteries are really low it too will cause a "fault" until they come up. It is a protection to keep the charging side from overloading. If that is the case, you may need to use an external battery charger for an hour or two w/15 amps.

Thanks for the help everyone. All breakers were fine so I left it plugged in. Went out & checked it this morning & the fault light is off & batteries are being charged. Convection oven also works. So it was probably the batteries being too low. Now if only the ride was that easy to fix!!

Womps.

Womps, glad you found the problem, Source Engineering can fix your other problem, but it is a lot more expensive!

And the WINNER IS DENOCHS! You get a free that was easy button! I love it when a plan comes together!
