I would like to share with the group two problems I have found with my coach due to the electrical switches.
1. My macerator was not working too well, it was struggling to do what it was supposed to and having a very difficult time grinding and pumping the waste. What I noticed was the switch in the panel was rather warm-to-hot. So, I decided to pull it out and I found it to be a switch only rated for 7.5 amps.... thanks Monaco... it should have been rated for 20 amps. I replaced the switch... and things are back to normal, running properly.
2. One of my slides had been acting intermitant for a while and then just stopped working all together on bringing the slide in. I thought it to be one of the hydraulic solenoids... so I ordered and replaced it. Things seemed to work for a VERY short while. I hate intermitant problems... Then things started being intermitant on the same slide but on the out direction, where before it was on the in. So for the longest while, I just loosened the solenoid nut to relieve the pressure while my co-pilot operated the switch. Somewhat a pain, but it worked. Well, today was the day to finally figure it all out as to what was really going on. To cut to the actual problem, I found the rocker switch contacts for both the in and out directions was so pitted not enough current/electricity was getting to the solenoids for them to activate. The switches Monaco uses are pretty easy to take apart and clean. Considering I got about six good years without any problems... I am not overly concerned. I cleaned the contacts and put the switch back together... and all is well, back to working properly.
So, if you are having any similar type problems, take a look at the switches before investing money and time on the other components. Well, I guess the upside is I now have spares for my solenoids...
