Question Electrical question on 1994 executive

There is a electric module above the coach batteries in our 1994 executive .it is rectangular and has cooling fins with two wires attached to it. Does anyone know what this is called and what this does. Any help would be appreciated .

It is the isolater for the batteries. it lets both house and chassis batteries charge while driving, then seperates them when the engine shuts off.

It should have three wires not two. One is the charge wire and one to the house batteries and one to the chassis batteries.

If this is an isolator for the alternator-- to me the wire don't look like a heavy enough gauge. Usually alternators in larger mh's charge in the neighborhood of over a hundred amps. If the isolator is indeed connected to the alternator -- then these light wire may have been the source of your fire.
So I'm wondering if they have in your mh a small charger that works when you're plugged in to charge both house and starting batteries and maintain them also when in storage. So this isolator might be for an auxiliary charger. Could I suggest you follow the wires and try to determine the source to the isolator. That is usually the center wire.
Just a thought.
Loren

A: photo shows 3 wires, not 2
B: Diode isolator
C: if you are in upstate SC I have one I can hand you.. Respond today.

D: if you are in Southern GA, Respond Thursday.

Mine is a 90 amp, that looks like a 100-150.. But the 90 should work.

Looks like the famous battery isolator used by Monaco. Mine went bad and I replaced it with an Amp-L-Start. (www.lslproducts.net). All of $65. Real easy to install and does a great job of keeping all your batteries charged, both chassis and house.
P.S. It was rated at 15 amps.
Good luck and safe travels!

I'm seeing a bunch of fried components, if you mean the part in the top right , that's a dual battery isolator. Available in various amp ratings for charging batteries. Not as common now as they were back in the day. I'll check for a Canadian source.

The Cole Hersee isolator should be rated by the Max alternator output or above.... never less.....or you could have another BBQ on your hands
