Jim, which motor is in that Exec.
Something just like that happened to me. I have a filter and water separator unit made by RACOR. It has a little control panel with a button for dumping the water out of the separator and a fuel prime button. If the "water in the fuel" light comes on in my MH then that button becomes active and I can push it and a solenoid opens and drains the water out the bottom. At the start of my trip I had a water in the fuel warning so I went back and pushed the button and it drained and all appeared OK. While on I-12 going through Baton Rouge the solenoid decided to activate by itself and that water drain now sucked air back into the fuel line and my motor abruptly quit and I dead sticked 48,000 lbs of MH with no power steering to the shoulder. I was towed to a WalMart parking lot and a local diesel repair guy tried to figure out what was wrong. When I tried to start it would turn over but would not start. They said that 90% of the problems in this type of failure was due to fuel delivery. They took the secondary fuel filter off the motor and it was only half full of fuel so I did have a fuel delivery problem. So I started to think and went and touched that drain solenoid on the water separator and it was hot. I hit the fuel prime button and fuel poured out the water drain hole. I took that plug off the solenoid and hit the prime button again and no fuel came out the drain. I held that prime button for about a minute to fill up all the filters and then tried the motor and it started right up. Never had a problem since. I put a manual drain on the bottom.
Also, I have a ECU fuse that is next to my chassis batteries that is on a small separate red wire that comes off the positive post. It is in a small black rubber holder with a waterproof flip top.
