Engine Heat Shield Falling Off

The bottom side of the engine compartment access door has a thick rubber insulated sheet, with a metallic covering, facing down into the engine space. Every time I open the compartment the sheet is separated from the door and is laying on the engine. I can push it up against the door and it'll stay, but eventually is separates itself again. Any ideas how to reattach it? I thought about using short screws and fender washers, but wonder if the weight of the whole thing might just pull through the washers. Ideas?

Mine has not fallen totally off but is hanging about halfway off whenever I raise the access door.

Just thinking about trying to clean it well and reattaching using construction adhesive or possibly like you suggested.....screws...... but could also use metal or wooden strips so the screws would not pull through.

Mine did the same thing 1 1/2 years ago, reattached with 3M Yellow Super Adhesive (Product #08090). Followed the directions on the can. I don't think it will ever come loose again.

Mine came down ~5 years ago, I had some aluminum pieces of transition strips that are used for flooring, it had holes predrilled ~8-10" apart. I cut some of there to length and used short screws to put the heat shield back in place. Has held up well

I finally got around to fixing this. I used 3/16" aluminum plate cut into strips 1 1/4" wide and spaced them 9" apart. The back of the pad was still sticky so this should hold it up.
