I have a 2000 Monaco Dynasty. On the dash is a Block Heat switch. I know what that is. On the left hand console there is an Engine Heat switch. Can anyone explain what the engine heat switch is? I have Aqua Hot but I understand that they coolants travel between the engine and Aqua Hot by default and do not need a switch to enable that to happen.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Pat

I have a '97 Beaver Marquis. It has the same switches. I'm not positive but I think the switches are for engine preheat during very cold weather. The block heater switch is for electric heating elements. The Engine Heat switch will turn on a pump that circulates hot water from the Aqua Hot boiler through the engine block. When the engine is running, the engine coolant is circulated through the Aqua Hot system and the Engine Heat switch should not be on. I am not positive about this mode of operation. My Marquis is pretty new to me and I have not had occasion to utilize the engine preheat feature.

There are two heaters, the Aqua-Hot and a 110 v electric heater in the water jacket. The problem is that the Aqua-Hot pumps to a heat-exchanger and doesn't circulate the water in the motor. Same with the 110V block heater again there is no circulation. Both systems use convection to circulate the water. If you are at a campground then you can use their electricity to heat the 110 v block heater. If dry camping then you can use the Aqua-Hot or run the generator for power to the block heater or you can run both of them at the same time to heat the motor if it is really cold outside. They really are duplicate systems, the 110 v block heater is there because not all MHs have Aqua-Hot.

Thank you both for your response. It makes total sense, but I could get that in the documentation. Your description is perfect.

Thanks,

Mike,

I think you are mistaken on one point. The engine heat switch turns on a pump, included with the Aqua Hot, that circulates primary side water from the Aqua Hot through the engine. When the engine is running, the same thing happens but you don't run the Aqua Hot pump. This takes place automatically and you don't have to take any action. That is why you always have hot domestic water when you stop for the night.

Perhaps someone with more knowledge of the Aqua Hot system can verify or clarify this.
