Engine Surge

New to the site. I have a new to me 2003 38 PST Holiday Rambler with 330 hp cummins with 6 speed Allison.
While driving with foot on pedal, the engine will surge as if i am taking foot off pedal and then WOT a moment later. when placed on cruise control, problem is gone.
Even a little throttle by foot and the surging starts.
Any ideas?

Fuel Filters were changed about 2.5 weeks ago. This is interesting as it runs fine on cruise control, and the generator has no issues at all. It is also diesel.
Thinking it might be a Throttle Position Sensor. Just my current thoughts.

I think you are correct about the throttle position sensor. On my 2000 Dynasty, the foot throttle is not in play while in cruise, unless it is pressed to a point that exceeds the signal from the CC.

Thanks for responding.
I'm not sure if there is anything else i need to look at except the TPS. It seems to be the logical conclusion due to the fact the engine runs perfect when on Cruise Control.
Just wondering if the adjustable pedals would have anything to do with it.
Sure appreciate the responses I am getting.
Good group of people on here.

Had the same problem on the Mack truck toter home that I pull the race car trailer with. Ran great on cruise but not when using my foot. Changed the
Pedal and all is good again

Pilot calibrate your accelerator may not help but wont hurt to give it a try.

THE PROCEDURE:
The accelerator pedal acts like a potentiometer to tell the Cummins
and Allison electronics what's going on.
Turn the key on to the first position (power on, but NOT starting the
engine). You don't have to wait for the meters to
cycle, etc.. Slowly, but steadily push the accelerator pedal to the
full acceleration position (pedal to the metal!) and
then release it with a slow, steady motion (do not let off it
quickly). Repeat this procedure a total of THREE times. Then,
turn the key to the OFF position. Leave the key off for a MINIMUM of
30 seconds -- longer is okay, shorter is not.
The electronic modules in the engine and transmission will then
recognize this as a calibration procedure.

Thanks Walt.
I tried your procedure twice. No improvement. But, now I know how to calibrate the pedal.
I greatly appreciate your input and was real hopeful I would see some change.
I'll keep looking and checking if there are any ideas I might try.

Thanks again.

To Robert T,
as soon as I figure out the fix on this, I will gladly post the information with all.
then, hopefully, someone else will benefit from the research and solution.

Thanks for the input Mike.
I will be checking that out and find part numbers, checking wiring, etc. Will let all know what the resolution ends up being.
