Hello All, While searching for information this morning I found a Thread that ended a few months ago about the entry door arm. After reading the thread I headed out to my 2001 Dynasty (How do I keep that info in my posts?) to remove the Arm. The rivets had loosened and caused the arm to overextend. The screws attached to the door frame came out, they were square drive. The part that attached to the door seemed to be Rivets ?
Does anyone have this kind of set up? In the original posting it seemed as if it would be a simple task. The Rivets look to be Steel with a bevel to fit in the bracket.
Any suggestions?
thanks
Barrier

On my unit (2006 Diplomat) the door arm is held by screws on the jam end and pop rivits on the door end. I am on my third arm and the screws no longer hold the bracket tight, so I switched to pop rivits. I have to tighten the pivots about twice a year to keep the door from closing in a slight breeze. This is probably the poorest excuse for a design I have ever seen. Monaco's position (pre Bankruptcy) was "it was the door vendors problem" Funny, since my door has a sticker on it showing Monaco as the mfgr. Regardless, a roukie ME could design a suitable substitute if given the time. Just not a high priority in their eyes. They would rather sell you a $100 replacement arm.

I tighten the arm on my door a couple times a year. I've never taken the arm off, I just use a ball peen hammer and buck it up with a steel block. I hit the pivot pin several times until it is harder to move and will hold the door open securely. Mine is set up so when you push the door open with sufficient force it will lock the arm so the door won't close in the wind. I did have my arm replaced under warranty 2 years ago and the new one is a lot heavier than the original.

Yeah, it's a profit scam, yeah that's it!
My arm will not keep the door open, the wind from someone passing gas 10 miles away causes it to close. Yes, poor design.

If I open our door then reach up and push outward on the pivot point it will go slightly over-center and lock in the open position.
To close it I need to push in (toward the coach) on the pivot point, and normal operation resumes.
It has worked the way for years on mine. After 83,000 of full time living, that door has been opened many times.
