Entry step motor won't stop

I've seen other posts regarding entry step failure, so I'm hoping someone here can help with a slightly different type of step failure.
I have a 2011 Monaco Vesta. The entry step retracts and extends as it is supposed to, but today it started retracting but the motor doesn't know when to stop. It "chatters" as it works against the gear, and does this for a few seconds before it stops. This had happened before, several months ago, and the tech ended up replacing the motor ( I don't know if he had to replace the gear as well) and everything seemed fine until today. Has anyone else had this problem or know what needs to be done to diagnose/fix this issue?

Assuming units as new as yours still use the same technology as 90% of all MH's on the road. These gears are starting to break up, simple job or just take the motor to Auto parts store and get the whole thing for <$50. Search: power window gears | Window Regulator Gear Plug | AutoZone.com

Probably easier than going back to dealer.
