Exhaust brake
realizing there is no such thing as a "dumb" question here goes. I have a 2007 Beaver with a C9 400 hp with an exhaust brake. Is that the same as a PAC brake? I know a Jake brake is different. Also where is this exhaust brake located I,m looking for it but don,t know what I am looking for. The reason why is that I wanted to lubricate it

PAC Brake is a brand of exhaust brake. The physical brake unit is next to the turbo where the exhaust exits the turbo. It will have a cylinder sticking out with a wiring pigtail and a air line attached.

There is a special lubricant that PacBrake recommends to lubricate their brake. You might want to check on this before you proceed!

PacBrake, Jake, Banks, etc. are manufactures of brakes for engines.
Some make only Exhaust Brakes, others will make both Exhaust and Engine Brakes.
Read this to understand the differences between the two types of brakes.

Tri-Flow works well to lubricate the PacBrake also. Available at Ace Hardware, Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.

Working as a tech at Henderson's Line-Up I have lubed many exhaust brakes, most often it is easiest from inside the coach, under the bed. However I am a fairly skinny guy and occasionally can squeeze in from below and save myself the labor and cleanliness concern of getting under the bed.

Jim.....one of your bedroom floor panels should give you access to the exhaust brake. My coach has the Cummins engine and Monaco bolted a 10" x 12" metal plate above the exhaust brake as a heat shield. It made it difficult to see and reach.
Don't worry about slopping lube on the exhaust brake and nearby parts, the excess will just burn off. I wasn't being facetious when I posted the photo of the exhaust brake. From that photo, you can see the lube points that need to be hit.
Bring a mirror and a flashlight with you when you lube it. They may help you see and reach the entire brake.
