I have a 2005 Diplomat..when the exhaust brake is on, the brake lights on the coach and the toad are on. Is there a way to disable the lights when just the exhaust brake is on??

I don't know about disabling that function.

I can tell you how to make them work with the exhaust brake electric switch turned ON, if they do not.
(on my '96 Safari Sahara they originally did NOT)

When I was installing a product called a BrakeSwitch, I had modify mine so they WOULD go ON with my PacBrake exhaust brake.

I do know that , if you want the cruise to work with the exhaust (Pac) brake electrical switch on, (until you tap or apply the service brake), the installation of a BrakeSwitch will allow/cause that to happen. (www.brakeswitch.com/)

Not sure why you want to disable the brake lights when you are, in fact, decelerating with a system designed as a braking system. I know some people try to jury rig some sort of a toad brake system off a brake light system, but that's not a good idea either, given all the other alternatives available on a coach or tow vehicle for activating a towed vehicle's aux braking system.

My previous MH did not turn on the brake lights when I used the exhaust brake. Several times going down a hill I had crazy cars nearly ram the toad when I was slowing down. On my now MH the Jake Brake activation turns on my brake lights which is great. If you are behind me you want to know I am using the Jake and especially when it downshifts the transmission.

The engine ECM on a DP often controls this and is a simple on/off reprogram setting by the engine shop.

Why in the world are you even attempting to disable a safety system which is intended to warn people you are slowing down? Who have you been talking to that would recommend this change causing possibly a serious accident?

My coach & trailer brake lights always come on when I am using the PacBrake. If people prefer not to slow down they can go around me anytime they choose.

Only my opinion.

I have the BrakeSwitch and of course it turns the brake lights on. It also shifts down to 4th gear and lower and at times I really don't need all that braking that the PBXR gives.
I ran a wire back, from a on-off switch on the side dash, to the exhaust brake solenoid to turn it on and off in any gear I chose. This requires a diode in series with the normal line to it and hook the new wire on the cathode end of the diode(goes to the solenoid) and wa-la, I can turn it on when I please.
I can then select 5th gear and turn on the exhaust brake without the brake lights coming on and the trans doesn't shift down until I hit the brakes.
One major problem with this setup is forgetting to turn off the switch when coming to a stop. I did black out an intersection while going VERY SLOWLY across it with it on!
For the next trip, I'm gonna put a bright led light on the dash so I can see that it is on and install a push button on the steering wheel, like the NASCAR drivers have to push to talk, then it will be good to go.
