And then there's the story of the owners who bought an extended warranty through the dealership without asking questions. The dealership that suddenly closed one day. When the owners tried to use their extended warranty and couldn't, they called the mfg. regarding the warranty. The mfg. asked "What extended warranty", they had no records of any extended warranty. It seems the dealer was selling bogus warranties, had several illegal business adventures and that's why the dealership suddenly closed and there's a criminal court case in process. We heard the owner is in federal prison but not sure. We were told we can file charges as well.

I'm not sure when we became stupid in the process but we did. We look back now and can't figure out what we were thinking.

We all learn a few of those lessons in life the hard way. In your case it was a dealer whom you reasonably should have been able to trust. How could you have known? What a bummer.

I am currently investigating an "Extended Warranty", which is really more of a "Service Agreement". I've placed this question on the Alpine forum as well.

Results:
ACC failed to respond in a timely manner and I've been informed they fail to pay-up.

Good Sam responded well but doesn't cover certain high-dollar items (CAC, Radiator, etc.).

Warranty Experts responded well and have an exclusionary policy that is almost a "Bumper to Bumper" coverage.

Reading what is written here doesn't really help much because there are no specific companies named.

Question:
Does any one care to be more specific in their coments?

Bob:
I'll be specific...I checked them all when I was investigating, and got luke warm or poor responsises from all except Good Sam. Where I fell into a trap was the exclusion of seals and gaskets for coaches over 50,000 miles and 5 years old. Mine is an 01 with 59,000 miles. A lession learned!!!

We have an extended warranty. Everything NOT covered was listed in full on the contract. What is covered was enough to convince me to buy it.

Thanks.

I just decided to buy Warranty Experts' Extended Service Agreement.
It is an exclusionary policy for 4 years/50,000 miles.

Covering failure and wear of all major items, it only has to save me 1 big one to have been paid for.

The promptness of Jason's responses and patience with my myriad questions also figured onto my decision.

I too purchased the ESP from good sam. My experience was also bad. I did not renew it when it ran out. I like alot of others don't think to much of ESP's. JMO

I had a Freedom Care extended warranty for over two years on my previous used coach that I bought. It cost $2500 and over the time I had that unit they had to pay for about 1500 in repairs to my coach. A complete roof air unit and a set of new calipers and brakes that Workhorse refused to pay. I sold the coach and am now getting a $1300 refund for the unused time.

I am very happy with my program with Freedon Care. It came though the Camping World dealer I bought the coach from.

Hopefully, I will not have anything to add to this thread.

Insurance of any sort belongs in the classification of "Unwanted Goods".
Right up there with the services of Dentists, Doctors, Undertakers and Lawyers.

My dealer offered the GS ESP package for my new Camelot but I didn't buy it---I'd heard too many tales. I did however buy the extended warranties from Dometic/DuoTherm for the reefer and A/C units.
