As stated above why do you need an Extended Warranty, when your coach comes with the perfect wall to wall warranty? Buy the extended when your warranty runs out [right before] from the factory, that way you are not wasting your $$$, on an overlap or warranty.

The Good Sam phone salesperson said we had to list the Retail Value as the MSRP

This would be correct. MSRP stands for "Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price" ..If they do not state "Price Paid" and they ask for "Retail Price" then you must state what the Suggested Price would be....

Mama, I don't understand your circular logic, unless the policy has some sort of full replacement cost language, the MSRP is of no consequence. The retail price, is that price, that a retail customer pays, not some inflated made up number. JMO </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Hey HONDO... I didn't say that Good Sam's logic was RIGHT!!! I just stated that if they were asking for "Retail" that would be the MSRP ..which is the correct number THEY are looking for ...NOT THAT WHAT THEY WANTED WAS FAIR & RIGHT!!
Heck, I'm with you guys...but if that is how they base their insurance number...then that is what you have to give them. I have found not all insurance companies ask for MSRP - so you may want to continue shopping! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Mama, the retail price is the price paid at retail, not wholesale. The MSRP is not the retail price, it's the Manufacturers SUGGESTEDRetail Price.

My reason was pretty simple - figured I wouldn't wait until I needed it. I have found that I typically don't have much bargaining room when I *need* something. I wanted the Monaco plan, it was wrapped into my financing, and I can cancel it any time before the end of the coverage for a refund of the unused portion.

I am sure if I called the dealer in six months and told them I wanted the ESP, I would be writing a check for full retail. That, and I would probably forget to do it and end up paying for something huge. That is my style

Just purchased "Monaco" Extended Care policy for 2006 Camelot (6 years, 80,000 miles) from John DiMartini and felt it was a fair price.

One lesson learned, get it before you put on 12,000 miles as there is a penalty for higher mileage.

The policy is backed by Lyndon Insurance Company of St Louis and administered by PRIZM Administrative Solutions. The tie to Monaco is a bit tenuous.

The exclusions are very numerous and onerous and you must follow their repair sequence instructions to the letter. You have a better chance of obtaining Monaco service but they have to get an OK from PRIZM and wrangle with them just as they would with any other warranty company.

This is just my opinion on extended warranties based on experience and previously being an insurance adjuster.

The policy is only good as their adjusting policy, no matter what you think the policy says. Further, there is little recourse with a disagreement. The courts and lawyers are what you have to deal with ( If you can get an attorney to handle it for a resonable fee), so if they say no, your are SOOL. My personal experience with their claims section is they use non-lic adjusters and they treat it like a game to see what they can do to deny your claim since there is no consequence for them to say no. I think they treat you like you will be a non-repeat customer. Yes they might pay to replace your alternator, if everything is black and white, i.e., you call them first, you changed your oil every 3T miles ( no relation to the failure) and have proof, and the alternator is judged by a repair shop as broke and the clerk that handles your claim is in a good mood. The state insurance commisioners office will not help you other than sometimes make a call for you with no pressure. Since the claims usually cross state lines, there is very little you or an attorney can do to get relief for damages to your vehicle.

My recommendations is to take the $2T to $4T and put it in a ROTH IRA Money Market acct and use it to make repairs. No one to hassle with in paying for the repairs. And if by chance you do not use any or all the omney, the rest is yours to keep. s/Toby

We have decided not to get an extended warranty. We have weighed the pros and cons, and at least for now, we have added up too many cons. We received more comments against it than for it, both here and on the Winnebago forum. We keep our products well maintained and the DH is very mechanical and handy. Thank you to all who gave us their opinions. Much appreciated.

I think I have changed my mind about purchasing the warranty also, I just found out since I have 18K instead of being below 12K for a year old coach there is a $600 dollar surcharge for higher mileage. Don't grasp that since I you purchase years/miles . Now the price seems really to high and I have also heard more against that for from others.
