Exterior step light

2004 Endeaver 40 PST. My exterior step light no longer works. Bulb is good,it appears that there is no power to the fixture.

The power lead for the fixture is a wire from the step controller. Is there anything else that could cause this problem other than the step controller?

Not sure what brand steps you have but the manuals for Kwikee steps are located here: http://www.kwikee.com/Adocuments.html#steps

the light only works when the switch is on......and the steps will go out when door is open and come in when door is closed......is that the switch position ?? or are the steps out all the time when parked....in that case there is no power to the light

Pipedream2 has the answer that solved the very same question I had a year ago. In order for the bottom step light to work, your ignition switch must be on, and the step extended. Doesn't sound like it should only work that way, but that's exactly how mine works.

This is what I did to solve the problem and get it to work when *I* want it to.

I removed the wire from the light going to the step controller and moved it to the interior step lights in the stair well. The lights wire from the outside, just in front of the steps. Now when I turn on the interior step lights, the outsdie stair light also comes on.
