I just saw a station that sold diesel at 3.99 for at least the last year..not a truck stop...now he is selling diesel at $2.25/gallon....NOT A TYPO...$2.25!!!...He was selling regular at 2.89 and I filled up car...and I was tempted to go get coach out of storage and top her up...Better yet...run to Walmart and grab every 5 gallon container I can find and fill them up an put them in shed...this is not a truck stop and I'm sure that diesel has been in the ground at least a year if not more...would not trust it.....what gives?...it was a LUKOIL station that has changed ownership a few times over the past two years....Wife talked me out of the Walmart thing though....but it sure is tempting but I am not using my coach as a guinea pig for old diesel...diesel does not go bad if stored properly but I bet water got into this ground tank and god knows whats at the bottom of it. On Route 22 in NJ..

Diesel that is stored long term must be circulated or it will go bad, no need for the technical stuff. Your DW was wise to stop you from filling a bunch of 5ers unless you plan on using them or have a system inplace you'll be wasting your money. There are stabilizers that can be used but long term. We have a 30,000 gallon storage tank for our hospital helipad and it has weekly testing and continous record system.

I have heard that diesel will go bad but my neighbor had a old diesel John Deere Dozer that has been sitting for 10 years and he went out put batteries in it and it started right up.
