2008 Beaver Monterey step cover sticks in both open and closed positions. Usually can force it to operate if I give an assist ( requires a good bit of force.) I hava read all the Previous posts and think the MAC valve is at fault. Have tried the WD 40 fix with no success. Also with the engine at idle there is a clicking noise every 3-5 seconds from the MAC valve without operating the switches. Also the step operates with such force it has destroyed the plastic track extension stops located in the cover tracks more than once. It closes hard enough to bend the stop attachment screws and then lock the metal track pins in the front of the cover to lock on the attachment screws. I hesitate yo make any solenoid screw adjustments without more info. Thanks in advance

I had a similar problem with my Mac valve sticking recently, I also did the WD 40 trick, and it worked for a while, but in the end I just replacing the valve.

When I put the new valve in I had to adjust the speed that it operated....it's easy, there are two tiny screws on the side of the valve. One controls how fast it closes the slide and the other controls how fast it retracts the slide. All you have to do is turn the screw a bit and then see how fast it operates, continue until you have the speed you want it to operate at. After that I put a dob of silicone seal on the screws so they wouldn't move out of adjustment on their own.

No sure what the clicking sound would be....perhaps the magnet isn't holding the shuttle valve in one position constantly which likely means the valve is not working properly anymore.

You can get a new valve from an RV Dealer or from a Mac dealer as I did. Go to this web-site and you can find a dealer in your area.

Hope this helps

Thanks Jimmy. I thought perhaps the valve was faulty. Wonder if there is any way of protecting the valve from dirt or any other way to prolong its life?

Thnks for the help;
Foster

The way mine had paint on it the same color as the frame I believe it was original equipment. That was 15 years ago it would have been installed, so as long as it is up out of the way a bit from road spray it's the luck of the draw, some valves are not manufactured as good as others and don't last as long. Nobody seems to believe in quality control when manufacturing anymore.

I didnt think they made the Beaver Monterey in 08 also I think the 08 had a electric step motor but in case your year is a misprint the adjustment screws two of them are on side of the mac valve is the adjustment that you need to do, you cant hurt it by adjusting just adjust in small increments and (have the air built up) have someone to cycle it for you as you adjust. I do think I would remove the inlet (it the line on the side with the little muffler) and spray a lubricant in the inlet before airing up.
