Has anyone rebuilt or replaced this valve on a mid 2000 Monaco product?
In "City water" a small amount of water leaks into the MH clean water tank. In a couple of days it is full and starts to overflow (out the overflow hose in the right rear wheel well). Drain some water out of the "clean tank" and the overflow quits but either way there is a mud puddle which our "girls" track into the MH.

Do you use a pressure regulator? Mine does the same thing when the water pressure is high -- Bill Willard

Thanks Bill,
We use one of the inexpensive brass inline regulators. Probably time to invest in a "real regulator" and pay more attention to the pressure guage.

On my unit, I have a valve plumbed into the system that will allow me to fill the tank from the 'city side' while connected. I would assume you have one....if it is not leaking past the valve, You might have a weak/bad check valve in the water pump. Several on the Excel side of the forum have asked the same question over the past couple of years. Here is an article that referrences it.

Could be the regulator is starting to fail. Trying another is a lot less complicated than replacing the fill valve.

Strangely enough, my water tank will overfill when the city water pressure is low. If there is strong pressure, it doesn't seem to have a problem. I'm using the pressure regulator that came with the coach. I haven't tried trouble shooting the problem yet. If there's low pressure, I turn off the water when we're away from the coach for a while and I keep an eye on the gauge when we're around.
Anybody seem this symptom?

Hal, isn't that just a lever ball valve that you switch back and forth. If so it doesn't make any difference what the pressure is. If it is a ball valve then it is either loose, dirty inside or broken, Just go to Home Depot and get another one.

We're going to try the new regulator route first (we need a good one anyway).
Went to Lowes yesterday and found 3 brass regulators. 2 were quite large (4'ish inchs in diameter) and $69 & 59 dollars. Difference was 1/2" and 3/4" diameter. The third was smaller and $30 with 3/4" piping. All set at 50 psi
Am inclined toward the smaller one as plumbing it permanantly would be easier in the small space available.
Also found a $52 brass with built in guage at Camping World.
All 4 were "adjustable" - Thoughts?

You could try an inline regulator on the fill hose. Camping World has them starting at $10... or Walmart probably has one in their RV section.

Hal, if I may add again. If the valve to switch between "City Water" and "Fill" is a ball valve such as on my 2004 Monaco and it is leaking then changing or adding a regulator is not going to fix the problem but may only hode the problem. A MH water system is designed to take 100 psi of pressure just for safety and that ball valve should take way more than what pressures are normally on the water supply. Yes, you should always have a inline water regulator but I would highly recommend checking for a leaking valve.

Mike -- I don`t use a regulator very often, but on a few occasins when the pressure was very high, the fresh tank would fill slowly when the valve was to the city water side -- I could hear a faint clicking when this was happening -- After putting the regulator on, all was OK -- I can remove the panel to access the valve without much trouble, but at this time, putting on a regulator is easier -- When you come to AZ, come over, & we`ll tear apart to see what`s happening -- Bill Willard

I had exactly the same issue. The fresh tank would overflow after a week on city water. The selector valve was the problem. It took a couple of hours to replace. I got lucky finding the valve at Motor Home Experts in Texas. They did not know what it was for and gave it to me for free. I found similar valves at Lowes.

Workshop is right. You have a water pump that is plumed directly into the water tank. It is the problem about 40% of the time. It is easy to check, just drain the water tank. Remove the inlet hose from the pump. Hook up the water hose and see if water leaks from the pump.
