Is it advisable to have an inline filter on the town water whilst in a park
I notice where we are currently stopped at Gracelands there are quite a few with filters attached

Steve, it is a matter of choice. We all hope public water supply is fresh. clean and good....but we never know for sure

We use a sediment filter and a charcoal filter on our incoming water.
They normally don't accomplish much, but twice we have been in parks that had a water line break. When they repaired the line and restored water flow our filters caught a lot of sediment.
We would rather pay a little extra to protect our water than endure a round of gastric discomfort from bad water.

AND, a charcoal filter helps with the taste of some "good" city water...

I admit I'm a bit paranoid about water quality and that in part comes from wilderness camping where one of the fears was Giardia ( beaver fever).
At this point I normally run a ceramic and charcoal filter and for boon docking add onto that a filter made by First Need that is considered NBC ( nuclear biological and chemical). With that I can pull water safely out of a river or lake and make potable.
One of the reasons for using a filter is to keep the fresh water tank clean. One of the dangers however of using a carbon filter is that it takes out chlorine which while it improves the taste, means that you have to be more careful about sanitizing the tank periodically

Many of us who spend winters in the SW US use reverse osmosis filters and even portable water softeners for the water to fill the tank. Some of the water in the parks is very mineral rich and nearly undrinkable if you don't use filters. Tough on pumps and faucets too over time.

I'm convinced
However the head pressure seems to be substantially reduced with the filter
Happy to use the on board pump thou The filter should provide some serious thru put so maybe the pressure is particular to this park
Wait and see

I run a basic carbon filter full time.. I may improve it (later) with additional filter elements but for not it is all carbon.. I'd like to add a sand filter to the mix.

I run two carbon filters as DW is particular about the water she uses for her hot tea.
