We live in Phoenix and are currently on our way to "THE RALLY" without our motor home.

On July 4th a brake line broke spilled fluid all over sparked and started a fire burning thru air lines and wiring harnesses.

Our coach is a 2001 34ft Monaco Knight.

Long story short the repair facility can get everything but the rear chassis harness and the backbone harness which must be ordered from Monaco.

Both harnesses are not stock items and will need to be custom made by their supplier. I was told this morning that it could take up to 26 weeks to get both harness made.

Does anyone have any ideas on where I might be able to find these 2 harnesses? I have PDF's from Monaco for both harnesses.

Rear chassis harness part is 16615721
Backbone Harness part is 16615208

Thanks in advance for any help anyone is able to provide.

Mike Mulvenna

I can't help you with locating the harnesses, however, how were you able to not lose the entire rear end of the coach? Did you have an engine fire suppression system installed? Or did you use a bunch of extinguishers to douse the fire?

Two suggestions:

1. Check the RV salvage yards on the internet. You might accidently get lucky.

2. Call in an automotive electrician to repair/replace the damaged harnesses. It won't be cheap if he has to fabricate duplicates, but it will be faster than 26 weeks.

I would push Monaco for the name of the supplier. Once you have that info, you should be able to negioate a $$$ verses time that would benefit you both.

A good auto/truck/marine electrical shop should be able to build whatever you need in a short time as long as the wiring diagrams are complete and the terminations do not use rare connectors.

Google and Superpages may help you to locate such a service.

Also, as with all labor related services, dealing with a business in a more rural area should be cheaper than one in an expensive metro area.

This fire will be covered by insurance. They should be able to find a good repair centre I would contact one of the big truck repair centers in Phoenix and ask them where they send trucks for this type of problem. There is a really good Diesel shop in your area and he works on MH's. I will find the name and post it. I just found it in my notes. They even do Monaco warranty work!!!

Thanks to all fro the suggestions. I am following up on all of them.

I did neglect to say that the motor-home is in Valley Freight Liner in Pacific Washington and not in Phoenix. Sorry for the lack of information I posted.

Hi Mike sorry to hear about your fire, we had to get a new backbone harness for our HR Ambasador and the part number is the same as the one that you want 16615208, the name of the company was Hillam Custom Controls INC if i remember correctly the name of the man we spoke to was Lane. give them a call you never know they might be able to help with the other harness, we live in the UK and it only took a few days for them to make it and ship it over.
Good luck hope this helps
Regards
Lorraine.
