First trip of season---NOT--

Well gang...a special thanks by the way to RV Ron who helped me get through this and get resolution rolling....

Had motorhome all loaded up..in driveway--plugged in , etc...ready to go.....
Turned on rear AC and compressor starts whirring and I can hear by vibration something is happening and then compressor cuts out..go up on roof--compressor red hot--let it cool down..try again..same thing...this is Carrier Air V unit(new in 2009)--called Carrier gave me name of warranty place about 25 miles away...OK....will take it next week--only need one AC this weekend anyway...

THEN...it ain't over yet folks...

was pulling in slides so I can pull out of driveway waiting for DW to get home... and then slide stopped 1/4 way. Lippert system fried...Opened up Lippert motor to try and use the old electric drill method to get slide in....and got Mount Vesuvius of black burnt oil on me...electric drill method useless...Pump seals blown so no pressure can build up to get slides in..
Bad weather due in and kitchen slide 1/4 in...living room slide fully out..Called Coachnet..sent me a mobile tech from NJ about 20 miles from here--didn't know guy existed...we tried pulling hydraulic line and pushing..no dice..put motorhome on wood blocks on left side so if water it will trickle off right side rather than in somewhere....Called Lippert....they are sending new complete mechanism to me--should get here sometime next week..mobile tech said he would put it in...(I can't get this thing anywhere)..

I have to tell you at least Lippert is stepping up.. and has told me the new design motors have this flaw out of them---I know several people on here this happened to...at least this didn't happen in Pa then we would have been stuck...

So Lippert is in process of coming through...they were very nice actually.....Carrier also seemed nice about the AC...we'll see if that pans out...

Coach-Net also found Woodlawn Auto/RV of Linden NJ who is mobile...

Let's hope this mechanism arrives by sometime next week...motorhome can't move until then.

Good luck with the fix. I looks like you have a handle on things and you are getting good support from the suppliers.

Sorry to hear that the first trip of the season went fizzle on you. Nothing is as disappointing as a scrubbed RV trip.

Stu,
I know you are aware of the good news....that is...it happened in your driveway instead of in a campground site that you were being pressured to leave due to incoming reservations and paying 40-70 dollars by the day for. I know you were holding your breath waiting for the Lippert Hydraulics to fail as many of us have experienced and now you can get it behind you and move on. Hope they (Lippert) get the promised unit to you promptly and you can get to the Carrier shop to salvage the summer season (way too short anyway). Now you gave me something new to worry about...my Carrier rooftops....Sheez!!

I know all about slide out problems, just not hydraulic ones. Good luck with it Stuart.
(Don't forget....Deer Creek!)

Hey Derrick

The whole thing has to make you laugh or you'd go insane...at least the thing is outside in view of my bedroom window....I have it up on wood blocks with a slight incline so that if it rains, water will trickle away from the right where the slide is 1/4 way in...and Stella and I have not forgotten Deer Creek....we so badly want to do the Blue Ridge area.....the Carrier people are 25 miles from me and that should be no problem just as the inverter guy did when that blew..I am just glad that the manufacturers are standing behind the individual components...and I found a mobile tech not far from me (20 miles) who knows his hydraulics etc that will replace it once the motor comes..at least Coach-Net did come through for me to get me someone...because you can't move this coach.
