Hi I am changing the air filter on a 97 38' Windsor. When I pulled the flexible intake hose off the inlet side of the air filter it was very brittle and just fell apart. It is a wire reinforced hose that connects the inlet side of the air filter to the stack that goes to the top of the motorhome. Where do I find this felx hose? it is 7" diam and about 24" long Thanks

I had the same issue I have a Freightliner chassis so I called the Freightliner hot line and the had the part number. Then call my closes Freightliner dealer and order it. I only need about a foot and a half but it came in four foot long and had to cut to fit

We have a 07 Camelot with 7" intake, but your set up may be different -- My flex intake hose split, but didn`t try to find a replacement flex hose -- On the web site, intakehoses.com I found the parts to replace most of the flex -- I used a 90o L, & 24" aluminum intake pipe -- I used a short piece of flex to connect to the coach intake --

Hi William. I saw your repair to the flex hose between the chassis and air filter and it looks very sanitary. I have a concern with the rigid aluminum tube to the air filter boot. My concern is that the air filter housing is mounted solid to the frame/chassis and the new rigid aluminum tube is mounted at the top to a PVC boot/tube in the fiberglass housing of the coach. The frame and house of the coach move independently of each other, so my fear is if the movement/flex is severe enough you may find that one of the tubes or boots separates from its' mating surface because the aluminum tube won't allow for flex or stretching. If the tubes or boots separate (prefilter), the airflow will still be filtered, but not as clean as the intake up at the top of the coach. A worst case scenario would be the boot from the air filter to the motor comes apart and allows debris and dirt into the engine (not likely). I'm also concerned that if you were to raise the airbags for leveling, that may also pull the aluminum tube from the filter housing. I think they put a flex hose in there for movement and 'flexibility', so you may consider going back to a flex hose. I hope I'm mistaken, as I said above, the work looks sanitary.
Best wishes,
Kent

William, I just reread your post and saw that you did put a "flex" tube in at the filter. That makes my post irrelevant.
Sorry,
Kent

William, did you mount (support) the aluminum intake pipe with anything? Although it seems the section of aluminum may not weigh as much, or any more, then the original rubber flex pipe.

After much searching on the net I found a company that makes all sizes of flex hose from 1" to 24" flex. It is Blastgate.com. Go to the site then click on flex hose and pick from about 15 different styles. The one on my MH was the PVC coated fabric with wire. I called and they had a scrap 3' long 7" dia. piece that fit my needs perfect. Normally you had to buy 10'. I ordered it monday and it was at my door Wed eve when I got home from work. It was 30.00 inc shipping Thanks to all for the help

Bob-- I bolted it to the electric junction box -- The 7" elbow will hold it up, but the brace holds it in place -- I`ve had this set-up for 2 years, & have no problems --

That has got to be the cleanest set up I've seen. Now I've got a new project to spend money on.

We called Blastgate, and the guy I talked to didn't recommend what they have for our application which is air intake for a 2000 Windsor ISC330 Cummins. He was concerned with heat rating. Should there be a problem there? We're not thinking so. Can you tell me exactly which number ducting you ordered? Ours is the coated fabric flex, as well. Thanks.

Here's another question. We just picked up a 7" aluminum flex hose at Home Depot. Does anyone know of any problems with using this instead of the original flex hose? Again, thanks to all out there.

I used the T7 on the recomendation of the person from blastgate because it has a thicker wall. A bonus was they had a scrap piece approx 3 feet long and that saved me about $50. It has a working temp of -40 to 275 F. I installed it approx 2 months ago and all is well.
