Flexible Map Light Bulb Size

Does anybody know the bulb size for the flexible map light that is by the driver and passenger seats? I saw another post on here where the PDF for his 08 stated the bulb was an 1816, but when I purchased that bulb its too big for my map light. Anybody else replaced these bulbs?

Thanks!!
Sean

My owner's manual also says the bulb is an 1816, but just below that is an "Interior Bulb Chart" that says the Map Light bulb is a "12V 6W 38886K". I've never had to change one, but even though Google gives me nothing for 38886K, that's where I'd have to start. I attached the page from my manual FYI.

Maybe posting a picture of the light in question might help someone give you a better answer. Hope this helps.

Its a 1816 4W If I remember its a T base. I had the same problem trying to find bulbs. I finally spent some time on E-BAY then asked the venders if the bulb was the same as there pictures. Jim

I believe it's a 906. There is a direct LED replacement for it on superbrightlightbulbs.com

Check your map light with a circuit tester/lamp or meter first.

Our flexible map lights have swivel heads which added a design problem. In typical flashlights the sides and the bottom of the bulb have connections that are made by pressure contact. However, on my map lights there is another swivel pressure contact on the head of the lamp. My lamps do not make constant contact with ground and therefore seldom work (the bulbs are fine).

I can get new LED versions (with red/white leds) but at $40/ea for something I seldom use, it goes to the bottom of the upgrade list.
