We have a 2005 40ft w/4 slides. I want to remove the curb side jackknife couch and then move the road side hide-a-bed couch over to the curb side. The curb side flooring that the couch is bolted to is raised by about 2", where the road side floor is flatter. does anyone have experience with this????
I'm guessing this will not cause a problem with the couch other than when opening the bed the folding foot at the end of the bed may need to have something under it to make up the difference in height.
I can handle the heater vent in the couch etc, but am wondering about this thicker flooring??? Any thoughts or experiences???

We have an '07 quad slide with the jack knife sofa street side and the hide a bed curb side, where the floor is slightly higher under the bed. When we use the hide a bed I put some spacers under the foot of the bed or else you're sleeping at an angle.

But the couch works fine otherwise on that raised floor?? I was guessing that I would have to put a 2x4 under the foot (or something similar) when made into a bed to keep it level.

Works fine, as I said this was the original coach set up from the factory. I upholstered a couple small sections of 2X4 for the foot of the bed when it's open to keep it level and they store under the bed when it's folded. I'd be curious to hear what others have done with this sleeper. It just seemed to me that with the sofa a few inches above the tile floor, when it's open it's just too much of a slope to be comfortable, thus the spacers.

I pulled out my J-lounge and installed a sofa/hide-a-bed on the curb side. Had no problem with the install as far as the floor was concerned. I made up a couple 2x4s for the legs. Put carpet around them and installed some clips that connect to the legs when open. The carpeted 2x4s were the right height to make the bed level. I used carpet so they wouldn't slide around/scratch the tile. The clips keep them from getting knocked out from under the legs. I store them in the overhead cabinet when not in use.

We had our sofa bed on the curb slide and the ladies hated it. With the extra height they could not put their feet on the floor while sitting on the sofa. Not a big problem if the ladies in your life are taller. I guess my wife and her friends are all vertically challenged. Otherwise, all of the issues mentioned (heat vent, bed angle) can be overcome.

Thanks all I'm glad to have my plans confirmed and all the simple fixes for the height problems.

Has anyone found a solution to the sofa bed height? Ours is on the slide, when opened, the legs are to short to touch the floor. We to have use 2x4s to make up the difference, but want a better solution. Any other solutions out there?

I made the switch last year. I took the sofa bed apart and cut the frame down even with the bottom of the sofa sides. Works fine and looks good.
