Depends upon how much time you want to spend. Both are going to be hot. There will probably be more stopping and camping points along the Bakersfield/north route than the secondary roads through Nevada and up. Definitely take 99 and not I-5 through Cali as far north as Sac. When we went down to SoCal in April, we went down I-5 and got beat to death. We came home on 99 and while still rough, it was a whole lot better than I-5.
We had planned on going, but wanted to make service appointment at factory before rally and then attend rally. Problem was, we could not schedule both without conflicts and then Mama decided to start new career path so all went into hyper-space.....
Ah well, what to do with these young, not-retired young-uns????

Hey Bruce,
Are you going to the Monaco pre-Rally or the FMCA rally?

Hasn't anyone told you guys that work isn't all it's cracked up to be? Oh yea, it's the way you get $$$ to retire....actually I am still working a week a month for my old company through the end of the year...
I think your right that the Bakersfield route will be best...I already know about 99 vs I5, my company has locations in Bakersfield and SAC, so I have spent plenty of time in both, and traveled between them many times.

The FMC....... my son and daughter-in-law live near Portland, where I spent 30+ years before coming to the sunshine in AZ....was going to go to Portland after the FMCA.
If your trying to go to the factory for repairs, I assume your going to the
pre-rally? We plan on leaving the 4th or 5th and working our way north.

Just cleared it with Gloria...we will go to the pre-rally first, then on to Redmond, then back to Portland to visit the kids...I need to sign up for the pre-rally!
Since it is in Salem, that means the Bakersfield, SAC route for sure.

Ang and I are signed up for the FMCA rally. Not sure about the pre-rally in Salem though. We are kind of stuck in Denver right now, waiting for service. Need an A/C replaced, among other things.

This service stuff has dampened our side trip to Moab, so maybe we will just scoot out to Oregon and do the pre-rally, then the rally, then maybe back over to the Monaco factory for a tour. That would be cool.

Really bummed about Moab, but I am sure we will make it back out this way sooner or later.

May be fun getting together with other IRV2ers. Let me know who is mixin the Margs and I will be there
