Found another thing - maybe I should stop looking :-}
This one doesn't look as easy as the oil cap
Happened to notice the sealant on top the slide was torn up, must have hung on something - have slide toppers, but this edge is exposed for the most part.
Not sure how long it's been there,
and didn't get a good look at what's under there, but know it should be addressed....
What do I use on the monaco slide top?
cut it back,
clean with mineral spirits, and then
Dichor lap sealant or eternabond tape?
thanks in advance !

I used eternabond on my ENTIRE slide roof(s). Acetone, clean clean clean, lots of pressure to apply.
Too bad you aren't closer, I have a ton of it left
Added, I had really bad electrolysis pitting on the aluminum roof of the slides. I bought my coach in Texas

Ouch!
What Jake said. And be sure to find out what's causing that rip (but then, I'm sure you already thought of that)

Dont know your brand of rig--but the sealant tape used on the edge of your slide doesn t look like something a manufacturer would use to cover a slide edge--too prone to catching/snagging????? Are you sure its the OEM solution for sealing the slide? If not--think I would be incline to remove some/all and "do it right" with an approved sealant.....keep us posted....

That is exactly what mine looked like, factory. I agree, they could have done way better. Monaco calls that "tar tape" .

That is stock material. The "snag" could have happened with just one time of not following leveling instructions.
Be sure to follow directions in your owners manual... blame it on the previous owner, whatever, fix it and move on.
EOD...event of the day, they get fewer as time goes on.

Ah, tar tape... wasn't sure what to call it - guess it's eternabond-like? will get some and cutout the bad spot for now to get it protected, then after the holidays get it done right.
And Yep - that full wall slide WILL do some tilting to come up and over the 'ridge 'when coming in, if you do not let it settle as it comes in...
I'm pretty sure I can guess when it happened, but I'm not saying as long as SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) might read it
Hint, some of the inside and outside jobs may be reassigned !

I just went through the same thing myself. Two of my slides were leaking through the ripples in the tape. At some point, I will also do the other two slides... that stuff is worthless!
I took all the tar tape off and cleaned it all off. However, I found the acetone not to be that effective and used a MEK-like solvent instead. MEK has been banned, but there are replacement solvents at Home Depot, Lowes, etc.
I also used 4" Eternabond, but also used some Dicor putty on the screw holes, etc. All the leaking has stopped... it got tested pretty good with a couple of inches of rain last week.
Good luck!
Ron

I found 36" wide Eternabond and covered the entire thing (because of the pitting). A PIMA but done. Didn't think about MEK (I have some still).
