On my 04 Windsor, I was checking to verify that my wet bay heater and fresh water heat pads were working, and noticed there is a red water line which feeds into the top of my fresh water tank. Does anyone know what this is for? Does it play any part in freeze protection, or what?

I'm also curious about whether damage to the fresh water tank would result if the tank is empty while the system heat is operating, and if water is required, is just covering the tank bottom enough to mitigate the risk, or is more necessary?

Can anyone give me an idea what the coldest continuous temperature is likely to be that these heaters would protect the coach, with your assumptions. My last unit was a four season truck camper, and good to well below zero F. I like winter camping, and would appreciate the benefit of others' experience, so I can have an idea what to expect out of this fantastic beast.

Thanks for any advice you can give!

Not sure what the red waterline is to your fresh water tank, my coach has a blue waterline out the top of the fresh water tank that acts as the fresh tank overfill drain that emptys on the opposite side of the coach from the wet bay. That might be what that line is, this is a guess only. Our coach is an entry level Monaco. Back in February of this year the wife and I were parked in a campground where the temps got down to 9 degrees F on three consective nights and 11 degrees for four nights, we experienced no problems or frozen tanks. We had about twenty gallons freshwater on board in case the waterhose froze, which it did. We didn't have the faucet dripping fast enough to keep the waterhose from freezing. The wet bay stayed warm enough to keep everything in the bay from freezing.

Mike,
Thanks for the low temp info. That's encouraging. Also, next warm day, I'll see if I can find a water drain line under the coach near the fresh water tank, and try to blow air through it to see if that's what this line is. What you say about the water line makes sense; I was just puzzled by its red color.

Roger, does your Windsor have an Aqua Hot unit for heating? I'm not familiar with the Aqua Hot system and how it works. If your coach does, the red water line on your water tank may be a part of that system.

No, it doesn't have aquahot. Kinda wish it did though.
Its been cold here and I've been busy with honeydo's, so I haven't checked that water line yet. I'm thinking about running some elec outlets to the water bays to plug in some small wattage bulbs. I did plug one in and set the light in the electric bay; thats where the water filters, water valves, pump and water heater are located. I thought I might see a difference in the basement vs outside temp monitors on the Alladin system, but haven't. When I get to check that line, I'll move the light to the wet bay and see If the monitor shows a difference in temps. I think I saw somewhere that that was where the Alladin bsmt temp sensor was located. I don't have any idea where the outside temp sensor is located.
