We have the side by side Dometic fridge in our 08 Camelot (in the slide) and it is not staying cold while we are driving. We plug into electric / or turn on the propane 24 hours before our trips, freezer will cool to 2 and fridge will cool to 36, we load it with food. We drive to our destination (fridge on propane) 3 + hours down the road our freezer will increase to 4 - 14 and our fridge will increase to 40 - 49. Does anyone have this problem?

I am wondering if this could be caused by poor air flow up through the chimney while going down the road. With the frig in the slide you do not have a flu going to the roof but two vents on the side.

Will the fridge work on propane only when your not moving?? I just had the same problem, it didn't work at all on propane, it turned out to be a pinched wire (igniter wire I think). It was a ten minute fix...Bruce

Hi Bob, Bruce and Dirk,
Many thanks for your reply. To answer you ...... Bob we are wondering the same thing, about poor air flow. If it is how can it be fixed?
Bruce....The propane cools just fine when sitting in an RV park, it's only on the road that it does not stay cold. Any suggestions?
Dirk.....The model number you asked for is Dometic NDA1402 side by side.
Thanks again,
Camelot

There are many folks with 1402 cooling problems while on the road using propane.
Most do not have a roof vent, but instead have 2 sidewall vents.
It is indeed an airflow problem while driving.
Some folks have had successful repairs to the air flow baffling, but others are still having problems.
Search on 1402 and there are several threads on this problem, most in the Newmar forum.
I have a roof vent and no cooling problems with my 1402.

Don't overlook the possibility of a pinched LP hose to the refer. The hose makes a tight right angle bend on the bottom of the slide at the outside wall and also a tight bend were the hose lays over the chassis. Obviously the slide is retracted when you drive. Does it fail on LP if retracted and parked?

Camelot -- I have a 07 Camelot with the 1402 in the slide -- After 2 years, & many "fixes" the refer still has problems cooling while traveling -- There was a long discussion on the Newmar Forum last summer -- It`s not just a Monaco thing, but Newmar also -- It is probably a venting problem, but door seals may not be sealing good -- The doors are not adjustable, but you can put 1/4" weather stripping behind the gasket where the doors zig-zag to solve that problem -- Good luck, but it`s something you`ll probably just have to live with -- Bill Willard

Don't know if this applies but there's a recall (08V098000) out for 2006 and 2007 Camelot's and Scepter's that states: The rubber liquid propane hose on the back of the refrigerator may have an extra length of hose. The recall goes on to talk about a fire hazard but doesn't mention causing any cooling problems.

Is it just not cooling when you do the initial fill up of food? After it precools, and you load food the food needs to be precooled. Otherwise the temp will rise and it make it it hours to cool all of the food.

Thanks for all the input. Bill Wlilliard, sounds like our problems are the same. I'm interested in the "fixes" you did. Maybe it will save me time on my diagnosis, and any change in venting you may have tried. If you would be interested in discussing this by phone, give me your phone number
through my e-mail at brentandmoni@aol.com.l
Thanks, Brent (camelot)
